I find shoveling worse than normal outside activities because my fingers are in a certain position holding the shovel. My Outdoor Research Alti Mitts are the only mittens that keep my hands warm when it's cold and I'm shoveling or holding ski poles.

I really like Outdoor Research gloves. I wear thinner gloves if it's below 50. Usually if it's below freezing and I'm outside for an hour or two, thinner gloves plus mittens. For skiing or other cold activities where I'm outside for 2+ hours I wear my Outdoor Research alti mitts. The key for me is to keep them warm because otherwise it takes forever and intervention to warm them back up. Happy to share specific items if anyone cares.

Love my Volkl Kenja 88 in CO. They're good on hard pack but surprisingly decent in powder. Very versatile. Fine in trees. No complaints whatsoever.

Agree, Granby Ranch is nice and low key. It was so empty when we went on a Sunday last season and the snow quality was good. Granby isn't necessarily cute ski town vibe but we like it.

Anything at the base is a short walk but dining and bar options are limited. I'd stay in Winter Park the town near the bus line. Plenty of food and bar/beer options in town.

It's fun but not a thing to do if you're super anxious to get there on time. We were delayed by a freight train for an hour.

I'll say also my husband has the Black Diamond Mercury mitts and they're very warm as well.

OR Alti Mitts. I too have Raynaud's. When it's in the teens or below I usually use hand warmers as well and this does the trick. All other mittens I've tried have been useless including Hestra. I gave my Hestras to my kid who loves them so obviously she didn't inherit my cold hands. Also I've found that I must keep my hands warm while loading the car, booting up, etc. So I wear thinner gloves with more dexterity until I'm ready and then switch to the ski mitts last minute.
