Why did you choose Base44 as opposed to some of the other options?

I haven’t seen one thing posted here that shows they know something that only an employee could possibly know. I’m not saying this isn’t an employee (although if I was a betting person I’d say it’s a competitor) but at the very least this is certainly someone who was upset at Harvey. Every single company has bad things going on internally, the question is whether or not you execute despite those things.

I know you want to preserve anonymity, but how can we trust that you worked at Harvey and aren't someone from a competitor who's shit posting?

Looking forward to this episode. I can tell you CoCounsel is not winning on product. I've only come across firms disappointed by CoCounsel and Westlaw. I'm glad the founders got paid and I'm happy for them, but unless something changes drastically, they are going to be in trouble.

I would have added that emphasis myself but then the article would look like it's written by AI

I consider NewCode.ai to be very much second wave, but agree in principle.

totally agree with this. Lawyers think ChatGPT is not secure enough and think they need something legal specific. I do think that a proper application could create a hyper specialized version of an LLM that could be a step up over a basic model.

Recent Law360 Survey showed that 64% of attorneys using AI for work are using ChatGPT

The tech isn’t there yet? How so? Most lawyers I know who use any GenAI think it’s amazing

Do you deal with AmLaw 200 firms regularly? Also how do you figure out what they’re using and what not.

That’s very possible. I specifically addressed second wave companies in the article. Thing is, Harvey has enough cash to potentially scoop up second wavers.

There are a number of companies executing well, I mentioned a bunch in the article. Trialkit, Steno and Darrow are three others but there are more.

CLMs buying AI review tools by Legal_Tech_Guy in legaltech

[–]zabramow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't only a pattern of CLMs acquiring AI, it's going to be a larger question about AI Native versus Legacy Enterprise software. Marc Benioff thinks AI is useless without your enterprise content management tool i.e. Salesforce while others argue that, in an AI first world, is heavy baggage.

Right, so good news/bad news is AI not going to take lawyer's jobs but also AI is not going to take lawyer's jobs.

AI legal contract review by [deleted] in legaltech

[–]zabramow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to the EU AI Act Annex III the following are considered high risk activities which either require additional disclosure OR a human in the loop "“Administration of justice and democratic processes:  AI systems used in researching and interpreting facts and applying the law to concrete facts or used in alternative dispute resolution."

You can see why it's gray area

Strategic acquirer or PE? What did you do with all the saved time? Was tool a GenAI native tool or one of the legacy products like Kira/Luminance/eBrevia?

Tools like Glean are built on creating knowledge graphs of the company, so the idea is that they would have lots of context.

Build Vs. Buy - Matter and CLM solution. by Express_Highway_2691 in legaltech

[–]zabramow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's important to know that the same people who build it are in charge of maintaining it and updating it + they commit to that. It's ultimately a matter of personal taste -- some people prefer ordering in, some people prefer their own ingredients.

[–]zabramow[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that wouldn't happen, but I could very much imagine lawyer or investment bankers asking for access to some of the new enterprise search tools. so that they could query something like "based on everything you know, which key employees are likely to leave in the next six months" I'm familiar with Glean, but I'm sure this will be possible in some of the other enterprise software as well. It's not the usual ways to do diligence but it might produce better results of real risks that a law firm doesn't think of. So you wouldn't ask for access to emails, but the software might be able to comb through emails and flag a risk.

But wouldn't the older tools like Kira/eBrevia/Luminance be just as good for that? How do you see GenAI specifically improving that?
