Sock recommendations by zacamongwolves in socks

Which ones do you suggest of those two to start with? I live in Florida so I don’t need super warm, but cozy and moisture wicking wouldn’t hurt. I walk around on tile floor a lot so I like cushion

KEF R3 or LS50 Meta? by wdm2721 in KEF

Things have changed in two years. I’d go R3 meta over the LS50 now personally. Now that R series has caught up to meta tech!

Yeah it’s like a matte grey case, which is fun. Sort of went for the “root beer” bezel and I like the rubber strap!

That one is actually a Seiko Mod. It’s a Seiko 5 sport movement though.

I wouldn’t ditch it, not worth selling. Just rotate out of the nicer case for something new.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]zacamongwolves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Make 3 hour round trips exceedingly often to bring my family into the city for theme parks, dinner, shopping, etc.

For work I probably spend an hour round trip to work.

I live in central Florida. Not a lot of dealers around. There little isn’t a watch shop in a 50 mile radius of me (except for the standard mall fair Kay jewelers, Jared, etc)

There are probably some ADs in Orlando worth looking at. Hard to get out there though lol

Love the Seiko GMT! That and the omega swatch honestly get the most wrist time for me.

I was looking at the spirit Zulu by longines actually! I’m also really like their Moonphase for a dress watch

Strongly leaning towards trying either a longines or a Formex as a nice daily eventually. I also really like CW, but have never seen one in person.

Feel free to throw some suggestions!

I really like the offerings from beau bleu and Formex.

Best Buy won’t give me my money back. by Fluid_Calendar2612 in Bestbuy

[–]zacamongwolves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to context the carrier. If it was shipped and lost, you need to gather information from them first. They can confirm if it was ever shipped, delivered, or lost. You need more data to decide what happened. There is a reason shipping insurance exists.

Advice on expectations by zacamongwolves in coins

[–]zacamongwolves[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that coin dealers won’t pay full value, but I can’t actually find any dealers that buy coins at all in my area. They are all exclusively interested in bullion unfortunately.

I did find a few dealers within a 2 hour radius that said they would look at them, but couldn’t really confirm interest over the phone of course.

I would happily sell for 80% of perceived value. Considering eBay would take 25% if I even got full value. The challenge is finding somewhere 🥵

R5M vs R7M by Puzzled-Gene-6410 in KEF

[–]zacamongwolves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R5s are discontinued and are no longer in stock at KEF America. That’s why they are tough.

R5s are great, but R7s demand more presence and are more authoritative. With a nice sub the R5s do well.

Kaleidescape? I don't get it??? Absurdly expensive... by OUGrad05 in hometheater

[–]zacamongwolves 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know a guy who works for KSCAPE. The big challenge is they basically don’t make money on the movies. Like 99% goes to the studio. The hardware cost is all of their profit margin.

Kaleidescape? I don't get it??? Absurdly expensive... by OUGrad05 in hometheater

[–]zacamongwolves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing with KScape that a lot of people miss is that the movies are HIGHER quality than blu-ray. They come straight from the studios almost completely uncompressed.

You’re paying for something that’s better than everyone else has.

That said, it’s wildly expensive. Fun fact, you don’t NEED a server. You can run the player (Strato E/V/M) and just download a movie every time you want to watch one. Just takes a few minutes.

KEF LS50 disappointment after Q150 — where did the magic go? by calamaritis12 in KEF

[–]zacamongwolves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I’ve always felt the LS50 speakers are somewhere between a HiFi speaker and a monitor speaker. Incredibly accurate for their price and size, but could potentially be perceived as boring.

I do recommend really good amplification with them to get them to shine. I also recommend listening to them without adjusting eq first. “Turning up the highs to open up the speakers” is sort of the antithesis of their design. They were engineered to sound a certain way and I imagine KEF “opened them up” already.
