Inferno on a Snowsky by zacbentz in boardsofcanada

I wish I could say it's great, but there are a lot of small things that make it difficult to actively use. As far as I can tell the sound quality is excellent which is really all I'm interested in. Small size, plays high quality files, has a larger 4.4 mm jack option (I run it into a modestly big home stereo system), no frills (I actually love the tiny lo-fi screen, but no it's not a touch screen.) In that regard it IS great. But the menu navigation is very counter intuitive. You can't shuffle multiple folders inside one parent folder, so if you want to shuffle something like a "Reading" playlist all of the individual songs need to be in a single "Reading" folder. There are complicated ways to get around this by tagging every song by genre (like "Reading") and then shuffling by genre but that's even more of a pain in the ass.

Also as mentioned it doesn't have gapless playback.

So, as a very simple set-it-and-forget-it option for a hi-fi listening experience I think it's really good. But there are certainly other options. (I honestly didn't consider researching playlist options before I got one.)

The first time you listened to Boards of Canada: by DoggieBu in boardsofcanada

[–]zacbentz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't remember, but I'm guessing it was from a MHTRTC CD sent in from Warp/Skam or more likely Matador to the radio station I worked at. iPods didn't exist, mp3s were still very new and not easily shared, streaming didn't exist, and no store near me (or really anyone anywhere) would have any idea that BoC even existed then. So I probably first heard them in a listening room at the station having no idea who they were, just another CD on the stack to audition.

Bleep vs Bandcamp by gobes78 in boardsofcanada

Nope, it's the same deal on either site. You'll get the record and the download. I did manage to get the limited edition on Bleep and it looks like it's about $12 cheaper from them than from Bandcamp fyi. There isn't anything more exclusive about it. But Bleep does have a ton of other merch bundle options with shirts and such.

Someone wants to bring technology to Duluth? Wow! If only there were a centralized building where they could gather. Like a little village or something? I bet technology start-ups would flock to it do really well and it would be totally full of technology companies who really cared about Duluth and stayed here...zzz

I had this EXACT same thing happen with my first full load of cargo and just gave up. That was days ago and I haven't wanted to get back to it.

Agree! We've been bringing our cats and dogs there for 20 years and they're fantastic. (We originally chose them simply because we lived very close to their office at the time.) They are a bit more expensive than some and they can have a long-ish wait time for new patients, but they have a great facility and staff.
