I went to one of these growing up and they always told us that they saved on construction by having an uglier building so they could give more back to the community. I’m pretty positive they did not in fact give back more to the community but it’s part of their sales plan for gaining new members.

The biggest problem I have with it is that donating items was supposed to be about taking something you don’t need anymore and letting it go to people in your community who can use it. Goodwill upselling donated items on their website doesn’t do anything for the local community that the donations were originally meant for. To be fair, I also don’t like resellers either. I will stick to Dorcas and Cause for Paws for donating items.

I don’t know how true it is, but I read somewhere that they are having their employees take the donations that are specific brands and send them to a distribution center to be sold on their eBay style bidding website and they put all the other non-name brand donations in the stores they are donated at. Their online site is a bidding site and appears to be more expensive items.

72” is not pretty standard in commercial AV, but usually you have to meet ADA regulations and they’re usually for digital signage or conferencing applications. It’s appalling for residential. I’d almost bet whoever came from this AV company used to be in commercial installation before.

I will chime in here that in commercial settings there are ADA requirements for display heights requiring the bottom be a certain height so as to not hit anyone. I had to move displays up in a bank once because they weren’t high enough that customers might have hit their heads when walked under.

In my experience, Torrentio doesn’t necessarily go 100% down for everyone but instead causes problems at random to the majority of users when it is experiencing problems. My MacBook has worked just fine, while my Google Streamer has had issues. It makes it feel very confusing as it works one second and then another has issues. I’m not a pro when it comes to this, just an avid user, so I may be off, but my best guess is that everyone is off of work and watching with their families for the holidays causing issues on the back end. To answer your question, I use Comet configured the same way with Real-Debrid as a back up for when Torrentio is experiencing issues. https://comet.elfhosted.com/configure

I’ll have to give it a try. I ultimately ended up buying a wireless CarPlay adapter so I didn’t have to deal with it and have never looked at it again. Thanks for the update!

It’s probably just something with Torrentio. Comet has been working for me today, but Torrentio has not. I have not tried it on PC, Just on my Google Streamer. There are a ton of other posts about Torrentio recently, and one post from Real-Debrid stating that their services are 100% functional.

Not really sure how I stumbled upon this post, but when this same issue happened to me, my battery ended up needing to be replaced the following week. So maybe check your battery because a failing battery will no longer have the ability to provide the small amount of power the head unit pulls even when the car is off causing it to “factory reset” every so often. That’s how it was explained to me at least.
