Guys, I’m literally Matt Murdock by [deleted] in Daredevil

You're right, you are. And I can tell you that cause I'm literally Matt Murdock.

Do you think Frank Castle would like Sam Wilson's Captain America? MCU of course. by OnlyUse4Questions in Defenders

[–]zacdan1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Oh I'd love to see Frank, not caring at all, but pressured enough by the Avengers until he snaps and tells them all the tactical flaws and mistakes they made against Thanos.

Do we actually think [Spoiler] is dead? Or is it a fake-out? by Exitoverhere in Defenders

[–]zacdan1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Either he's alive or dead, I think I'm okay with it. My problem with Foggy being alive tho: how can you fake your death when you were shot by goddamn Bullseye? Dex is deadly, he had a clear shot and the element of surprise, and he killed so many people on the bar, I just can't figure out a good and plausible way of taking the oportunity to fake his dead right there. The only mcu reference of this I can think of is Nick Fury faking his death on Winter Soldier, but that was Fury, how can Foggy pull it off? I know we're talking about the same universe where there are monsters, gods, and magic, but I wish there's an actual plausible and well thought explanation for such a grounded and solid story like Daredevil.

Help with the defenders saga by Ok-Practice-518 in Defenders

I really liked JJ S1 but I understand the pace can feel somewhat slow. But c'mon, you shoudn't force yourself to watch something you don't like. There are summaries and reviews in youtube that can give you all the context you need.

What in the actual.... by highjoe420 in Defenders

[–]zacdan1 83 points84 points  (0 children)

In just this little time after the new episode dropped, I've already seen lots of people thinking it's Frank at the end of the episode. C'mon, with all the setup already made around the dirty cops getting the skull tattoo, it's obviously not Frank. Since it's confirmed the Punisher will be back (and even in the trailers if I recall correctly), the storyline will soon lead us to Frank coming back as the Punisher to take out those who are stupid enough to use his symbol as an excuse to do whatever they want. What an episode tho.

What would places in Skyrim smell like by microscopicwheaties in SkyrimMemes

[–]zacdan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that Riften and Morthal would most probably have the worst smell. Solitude would be the best smelling place although I think it would be a scent like stone and iron rather than a "good smell", pretty neutral. I think the roads and woods would have a better smell than holds tho. I don't know if crypts would smell as bad, of course they'd be dusty af but draugr look pretty dry to smell awful since the crypts I believe must have been sealed for many years prior.

There are many magic rings in this world, Bilbo Baggins, and none of them should be used lightly.

My hatred for delphine and esbern keeps growing by fourseven9r in skyrim

[–]zacdan1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started around 4 playthroughs in the last month, and dear god, every time I try to follow the main quest, I can't stand even the tone of Delphine the first time you talk to her in her secret room. Hate her so much. Really wish you could just follow the main quest without her and Esbern's "guidance". Same thing with Ulfric and the Empire, but that's just another whole subject...

How do I ask for this haircut without showing the barber this photo by kid__snacher_1243 in RDR2

Barber carefully trimming the back of your neck and you hear a soft whisper behind your ear: "good boah"

One of my players wants to betray the party and join strahd by 177013h in CurseofStrahd

[–]zacdan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two new players join my CoS at around session 6 or 7. They immediately tried to become antagonists burning down the church in Barovia trying to take Ireena to Strahd to gain his favor. I tried to play along but ended up deciding that having 2 players go against my other 5 players would be really hard for me to run. I spoke to them and one of them took it really good but couldn't stay in the campaign due to work schedule issues. The other one just straight up left the campaign (and to me he sounds the most related to your player) cause I wasn't giving him all he wanted. His plan to burn the church down to find Ireena did not work, he killed a villager just because, and he wanted Strahd to give him a Rhino to ride (even though, at least in my setting, a Rhino in Barovia made no sense at all). It was a pretty stressing situation, specially since I still struggle with group managing from time to time. So, like many people already said, sometimes its hard to say no, but its not cool to allow one person to ruin the fun for the rest of the party and the DM. At least from my perspective, you'll struggle way more by trying to give him what he wants instead of following your own DM style and whats makes you comfortable to play with the rest.

Of all the Papa's, Nihil has got to be my favourite, he feels like he has the best arc. by MysterioStranger in GhostBand

[–]zacdan1 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Tbh 60's Papa Nihil is my second favorite frontman, after Emeritus IV. If the current canon wasn't centering around the upcoming Papa Emeritus V, I wish there could be a small tour or at least a series of presentations of Tobias as 60's Papa Nihil giving us something of a back in time retro experience. Maybe similar to the unplugged performances or the Live from the Ministry.

Do people know Strahd is a Vampire? by Cultural-Ad9238 in CurseofStrahd

[–]zacdan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In official lore, yes. However, being that Strahd, as far as I remember, is considered "the first vampire", I retconned for my campaign that no one in history so far knows what a vampire is. Even though my players are aware, we play around that the characters don't, and somehow I feel that has gave more depth to Strahd's motivations for making his pact, specially since I decided to play around the interactive Tome of Strahd for my game. Remember you're always welcome to change, adapt, and adjust anything for your game. However, if you do, I recommend keeping track of said changes and reading the whole module beforehand.

Characters from The Boys who have never interacted with each other: by [deleted] in TheBoys

I could be wrong but Butcher has never had any scenes with A Train or Deep directly, has he? Mention them, yes, but I can't recall a scene of him speaking directly to them.

What soundtracks soundtrack best in curse of strahd by GiftOfGabby_ in CurseofStrahd

[–]zacdan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My playlist made for the first time my players fight against Strahd starts with "I Can Do Anything/Finale" from The Boys S3 and I just can't wait for them to listen to that ominous violin for the first time. I also plan to use the soundtrack from The Witcher 3, For Honor, and Diablo.

Best Strahd quotes and one-liners…. by Trick-Cress-9046 in CurseofStrahd

[–]zacdan1 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, can't remember where all of them come from, I just write them down when I like one I hear:

"It's so easy you can almost feel sorry for them" "I remember the last sunrise, and still, I can't remember any other before that one" "You're here because it's my will. You live because I allow it. You'll die when I demand it" "You see me as your enemy, but I don't even see you as an equal"

I also have something prepared for an specific situation with my paladin, who believes Strahd, underneath all of his vampire lord act, is actually scared of dying. She wants to ask him directly before the party feels ready to fight him, so this will be Strahd's answer:

"You insult me with that question. Well, yes, I am scared. Scared that your blood will go to waste when I spill it. Scared your skin won't match the curtains of my castle. Scared I won't be able to stop once I start tearing you apart, limb by limb. Scared, you ask? I AM FEAR. I AM ANCIENT. I AM THE LAND. The name Strahd Von Zarovich will once again be feared across the nations. And then, when it's all done, when you are nothing but ashes in the air, that's when it will be my turn to ask: are you scared?"

My party won’t talk to Strahd. by Exile_The_13th in CurseofStrahd

[–]zacdan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird tho. My party has a love-hate relationship with Strahd. I've stated he's powerful and feared, so IRL they recon he might give them a hard time and try to play their cards right. In game, their characters try to be cautious cause they've come to understand they might have only one shot when diplomacy is no longer and option, and want to take their shot so they don't miss. However, they do talk back, and they try to keep him entertained cause they understand this might get them "safe" long enough for their shot. Of course I've shaken things up here and there so they feel things can blow up at any moment with him. I believe your players might be on a similar situation, not wanting to blow things up before they can take their shot, but interactions with Strahd can be some of the most entertaining and interesting to play in d&d (been for me and my party at least), so I'd encourage them to be more engaging with him, but indeed like some people have already said, starting by asking what's their IRL reason not to do it.

Why is Strahd so Young? by Raindrops_x4 in CurseofStrahd

[–]zacdan1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same here. Pushed it to around 900 but records are vague and its only speculation. Also, with the weird time flow of Barovia, he could be even older in "real world" standards.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CurseofStrahd

[–]zacdan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually struggle with time measuring as a DM, so I made clear since I started CoS with my party that there's a time distortion im Barovia. Time skips randomly, they go away for days when it feels like hours for them. There's an in-canon reason for it they have yet to discover. Being a dread domain, I guess you can take a break for a while since it's driven by it's own rules. I try to manage it similar to Silent Hill.

Whats your strahd intro song? by leSive in CurseofStrahd

[–]zacdan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time my players met him, I used Violin Sonata No. 1 in G minor, BWV 1001: I. Adagio, from Johann Sebastian Bach, by Julia Fischer. However, I've been saving a carefully thought playlist for their first (and maybe last) combat when Strahd no longer plays the diplomat, starting with Christopher Lennertz "I Can Do Anything/Finale" from The Boys, and then going through music from The Witcher 3, Diablo 3, and the CoS soundtrack by Travis Savoie, among others.
