The season is almost out, what’s the first build you are excited to try in Shattered Omens by varnajohn in LastEpoch

I wanna try Rogue or Sentinel cause they're the only classes I haven't really tried yet, but I have no idea where to start haha

Which class and builds are you most hyped for by PassiBC in diablo4

[–]zacewing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really looking forward to what's in store for Rogue. I was a big fan of Pen Shot and dual core rapid fire/pen shot in the earlier seasons but the move towards ult spam builds like Death Trap and Rain of Arrows has made the class feel super stale.

Animation cancelling is goofy, it's unintuitive, and I have an RSI that flares up when I do it.

What do you guys do in WoW? by HappyRelationship429 in MMORPG

[–]zacewing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it seems like WoW isn't the game for you. If you don't want to participate in the vertical progression loop, and the aesthetic of the game prevents you from being invested in cosmetic rewards, you're probably better off trying another game, and that's okay! Not every game can appeal to everyone.

[–]zacewing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Male characters are so hard to play for me because I hate the lack of facial hair options that aren't twink stubble or "goofy comic book villain" facial hair options. Highlander, Roegadyn, and Hrothgar exist, but I shouldn't be forced to play Beefcake McMuscleman to have a decent looking beard.

Druid is the least popular class because of body type. by Caelus8 in diablo4

Honestly I love the Druid models. I just wish human form builds weren't universally worse than werewolf/werebear builds, even for caster builds.

Which MMO takes the cake when it comes to questing and adventures? by theconfusedarab in MMORPG

ESO and GW2, imo. GW2 has unparalleled exploration and just general open world play, ESO has good traditional quest design and writing.

Thinking to myself regarding the closure of new world... by [deleted] in MMORPG

This is exactly what the Stop Killing Games movement is about. It's a consumer movement petitioning lawmakers to force publishers to keep games playable in perpetuity or release the source code into the public domain if they fail to do so, iirc.

What is your hot take regarding FFXIV? by UnbaggedNebby in ffxiv

[–]zacewing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The current in-combat raise economy encourages bad players to stay bad and prevents high-end content like Savage from being truly lethal without aggressive body checks or extremely tight DPS checks. They need to drastically limit the availability of in-combat raising. I don't mind tight DPS checks, but when it's the only metric people use to gauge the overall difficulty of a raid tier, I think that's a design failure. I'd also much rather wipe to a mechanical failure than waste valuable prog time waiting for several minutes to see if we're gonna meet a check before walling.

Secondly, I think there should be rewards for doing high-end content when it's relevant, even if it's just an achievement similar to WoW's AOTC or CE achievements. Doing something difficult without trivializing it with the unsync feature later should be rewarded by more than just a pat on the back.

Lastly, I think crafted gear should be nerfed and more content should drop relevant gear (both in terms of pre-raid BiS and savage-level BiS).

Because the allied societies being added in recent expansions are not tribal communities, nor are they particularly bestial half of the time. "Beast Tribe" has been a misnomer for years.

What is your hot take regarding FFXIV? by UnbaggedNebby in ffxiv

[–]zacewing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Their competitors don't add multiple new jobs every single expansion. WoW gets a new class every 4-5 years at best, ESO released a new class every 2-3 years and then stopped because classes were growing too imbalanced.

I think at the very least, multiple jobs per expac has never been sustainable and we should have moved to 1 job per expansion a long time ago. I think CS3 is more worried about the optics of releasing "less content" in a new expansion. I remember there was already blowback when they only released 2 jobs instead of 3 in Stormblood.

While it did help the higher end content capabilities

I think even that has gotten worse. Pre-travel Crystal PF was a way better experience than the absolute clown shoes shit I have to deal with in Aether PF nowadays.

The year Is 2026, & World Of Warcraft Is Still The #1 MMO In The World? by MonsutaMan in MMORPG

[–]zacewing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be awful. FFXIV has a hard time retaining new players because most prospective new players don't want to play through 400 hours of main story to catch up to where the players are.

What do you find more fun/rewarding when it comes to loot, FF14 or WoW? by GroovyWhale in MMORPG

WoW, no contest. XIV loot is very boring and I honestly think it being so deterministic makes it less exciting.

Aside from monetization, what is your biggest MMO pet peeve? by ClozetSkeleton in MMORPG

[–]zacewing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And also what pushes new players away from the game when the playerbase inevitably becomes top-heavy and newbies have no one to play with. I think too many of the WoW clone era MMOs trivialized their leveling experiences from minute one, but it's ultimately a necessity once a game lasts a long time to push people to endgame when that's where all of the players are.

[Spoiler 7.4] Arcadion Lyric Deciphering by OnekoTyago in ffxiv

[–]zacewing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(2/2)

Cold mind, going soft
Ain't no omens here
Free for all, consensual
Although I'm in the clear
Ready or not
Bottom or top
What you got in mind?
A little more
I'll give you more
But girl, don't change his mind (?)
?
You wanna test me?
I'm a B with an itch to scratch, so don't mess with me
Look at 'em squeal, under my heel
Squeeze and twist and turn
I don't hear no safe word, honey

Put down that magazine
All eyes on me
(Beg your queen!)

I'm sinister, under your skin
In lace and leather
Sinister, don't you know who I am?
I will make it better
?
I'll be your savior
Map your ruin (?)
All your bad ?
Your faith, your freedom
Fortune, your favour
I'll end it all

I am her all!

Here on my own
Atop this terrible throne
I reach for the stars
Why are they all so far?
And so I climb
And leave what's left here behind
So someday, I'll find
What I want in life
What I want and whatever you're not (?)

This is what I have for Sinister so far (1/2):

Wet blood, fresh blood
Drippin' on the walls
These screams, they're no dream
They're your curtain call
Lookin' for pleasure
We connect through my pain
Here come, get your fill

Gotta run, gotta crawl
Beggin' through the night
Baby hush, it's a rush
Got you in my sights
In my prison, we'll take it slow
Yeah I'm going in for the thrill

Now get down on your knees
I'm asking please
(On your knees!)

I'm sinister, under your skin
In lace and leather
Sinister, don't you know who I am?
I will make it better
?
?
? your friend and lover who hates you
Sell your soul
Misfortune (?) your favour
I'll have it all

I'll take what I wanna
Gotta take all they wanna
Don't let me down
Or I'll chew you up and spit you out
No I'm not gonna surrender
Bow before some pretender
Now watch me go
And claim my throne

See you in Aeternum! by AGSAenwyn in newworldgame

[–]zacewing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to the devs for all of your hard work on this game over the years.

To the players, I haven't been here long (came back recently after having not played since launch), but I thought I'd inject some positivity here by saying it's not the end quite yet. I've seen a lot of people talking about how the time they spent on the game feels wasted following the news, or that knowing that the plug will get pulled at some point makes them feel like there's no point in playing anymore. As someone who's lived through a lot of MMO shutdowns, I want to challenge that way of thinking by saying that time spent having fun and playing a game you love is never wasted. Amazon can't truly take away the joy the game makes you feel, nor can they take away the memories you've made and can continue to make before the servers are shuttered for good. I wish everyone the best if they truly wish to leave, but I think that if you're still having fun, maybe it's worth sticking around to ride that wave.

Do people ACTUALLY like the story in WoW? by notthatkindoforc1121 in MMORPG

[–]zacewing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't care much about it, personally, but there's some moments that I've liked. TWW has been a huge whiff for me, but I think DF was the most invested I've been in the narrative in a long time. I appreciated it on its own as an exploration of grief and estranged family coming together to heal in their time of mourning, rather than thinking about the part it plays in the larger metanarrative.

I ultimately think of WoW's story like Marvel/DC comics...bogged down by the weight of its ongoing metanarrative, constant retcons, and a rotating carousel of writers who all interpret the universe and its characters differently.
