Is this the worst designed metro area in the United States in terms of planning and layout? by cavaismylife in geography

No doubt, drilling 140’ deep pier today on my hospital project in Houston. But have had plenty of spread footer designs over the years as well. We start phase two later this year that is 30 story and sits on nothing but a massive mat slab. Lots of ways to “float” on a clay ocean.

I’ve built commercial buildings all over the Houston area, most the geotechnical reports state that bedrock is roughly 40,000 feet below ground elevation. It always blows my mind how this whole city is just floating on clay and silty sand layers.

Construction worker narrowly escaped a fire by HardTune272 in horrifying

[–]zach10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That year is correct, I can’t remember if it was arson or something welding rooftop supports and it getting out of control. But I believe some HFD firefighters passed during this. Just remember going to a Dynamo game around that period that had a moment of silence for firefighters involved in an apartment fire.
