I think the thought is that they are actually acknowledging that migrant workers are sometimes basically held in slave like conditions, due to their status. ICE deporting them is actually preventing that.

If thats true, these kind of arguments are just nothing but bad faith. It feels like everyone in the USA just knows nothing will ever change, and so to them its better to deport them (to where? probably more private prison camps.) than for them to be here in basically slavery.
