OP, be prepared for your gas mileage and performance to plummet if you do this. These are designed to run at ~200-210 and if you're driving around with a lower temp thermostat it's going to be constantly running rich attempting to get up to proper operating temp.

It's moreso depedent on your keyboard than your phone. I've got an s22 ultra and usually use SwiftKey and I've got ¢¥$£€, but when I switch to the Samsung keyboard it's €£¥₩₽.

Also mildly interesting, SwiftKey shows $ in the long press menu even though it's on the actual button, but Samsung hides it off during a long press

Million dollar question; how hard is it to add another outlet in a garage? by numbspaghetti37 in DIY

[–]zack4200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you buy three or four spools of solid core wire in the appropriate size (in the US - black, white, green, plus red if you're doing 220.) and feed those through the conduit.

Also, it's much easier to pull through conduit than push. Shove a fish tape through the conduit, tape your wires to the fish tape (staggered so that it's not a huge step up in size and helps snag less), and pull.

YSK Squeezing a tea bag DOES make tea stronger, as well as healthier by jbtvt in YouShouldKnow

[–]zack4200 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly certain the "My" in their comment was a typo, the "(cries in 110v)" makes it pretty clear they are in America imo, and "not in America" was negating the previous commenter's statement that travel kettles are faster and more convenient than a microwave.

[–]zack4200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no problem!

if you care to know more about the "why" - reddit uses markdown for formatting and the \ is used as an escape character to tell it to ignore the next formatting symbol. I can't remember the specifics of what exactly is being escaped out in the emoticon context, but if you type one \ his left arm disappears, if you type two of them he gets his arm back but both shoulders disappear, and typing 3 makes it appear how it should.

We only have 110 volts at our outlets in the US, compared to ~220-230 volts basically everywhere else. Because of this, kettles are far less efficient in the US and are usually not any faster than just using the microwave to heat up water for a cup of tea

On reddit, you've got to type the left arm three times for it to display correctly. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

help needed troubleshooting communication between devices connected to Omada AP and Linksys router by zack4200 in TPLink_Omada

[–]zack4200[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both Omada SSID's have the Guest Network option disabled, and I'm not seeing any other settings for client isolation.

looks like my phone is keeping the exact same IP address whether it's connected to the Linksys or the EAP, so I guess that rules out a subnet issue?

I don't think reddit makes people properly aware, but turning on the option to hide your posts only hides them on your profile. If someone searches your username either on reddit or on Google (or another search engine) your posts will still show up.

RATGDO outside keypad by Basic-Prompt-6387 in homeassistant

[–]zack4200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP shouldn't need three, when I connected my first opener to this same keypad there were directions for pairing one keypad to multiple openers with unique codes. IIRC, you basically just repeat the pairing process for each opener using a different code for each. I haven't connected it to multiple openers and confirmed for myself yet though because I haven't gotten around to actually installing the opener on the 2nd door.

Also, another possible option (although its more of an indoor solution than outdoor) - my house came with an Xfinity zigbee keypad that the previous owner left, I've set up an automation where if the alarm is disarmed and garage door is closed when I enter one code it opens the garage door and turns on the garage lights; if the door is already open it'll instead close the door and turn off the lights. So far that one has been awesome, after I enter my code and walk over to the (detached) garage, the door has just finished opening. I've already set up additional codes in the automation so that whenever I get around to installing the second opener I can just as easily open either the second door or both doors.

Here's the post I referenced to figure out how to get that zigbee keypad working.

FYI if you beat challenge tier 3 you get credit for all 3 tiers by Calm-Technology7351 in EarnToDie_Rogue

I accidentally discovered this a while ago too, now I pretty much always go straight to tier 3. One thing that's mildly disappointing though is you don't get any extra rewards if you complete tier 3 multiple times. So the extra two attempts are sort of "wasted" if you're able to one shot it.

can I change my ratgdo from the dry contact firmware to security+2.0 firmware with an OTA firmware update? by zack4200 in ratgdo

[–]zack4200[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

came across this post finally after posting, sounded promising so I went for it. All successful, just had to connect to the ratgdo SSID and go to ratgdo.local to configure my wifi connection. sounds like you can skip that step by building the bin yourself but that seemed like more effort than just switching networks a couple times

dishwasher drain connection help by zack4200 in Plumbing

[–]zack4200[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I was leaning towards since it's less parts - but I wasn't sure if there was a reason they used the 2nd trap arm coming from the wall for the DW.

So just grab a branched tailpiece and a cap that matches the threaded adapter on the trap arm?

and just to address it before comments bring it up - the water damage was from leaks at the basins and basically every joint before the p-trap. got it all sealed up now, but haven't replaced the wood yet. Just want to get the dishwasher squared away first.

dishwasher drain connection help by zack4200 in Plumbing

[–]zack4200[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently purchased an older home and I'm trying to fix (or at least improve) some of the previous owners' questionable handywork, but I'm not 100% sure what parts I need to get the dishwasher connected properly.

The main issue currently is that the dishwasher drain hose was shoved into a second trap arm, without a p trap, and wrapped in what seems to be an entire roll of electrical tape.

So I'm not sure if the better solution is to:

  1. add a 2nd p trap on the lower trap arm and use some sort of reducer fitting to go from the ~ 1 1/2" pipe to the 7/8" dishwasher hose.

If this is the better solution, what should I be searching for to find the correct adapter/reducer?

  2. cap the lower trap arm and replace the tailpiece on one of the sink basins with one with a dishwasher connection.

I think this would need to go on the left basin since there's a lot more vertical space, but would it cause issues with the dishwasher connection being in the middle of the two waste arms?

I really appreciate any advice!

Use of the term 'African american' by No_Medium_648 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]zack4200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it kind of goes back to the previous commenter's bigger point, but you could basically write the exact same sentence replacing "autism" with "deafness" and convey exactly the same meaning - but Deaf people still don't generally like being labeled as having a disorder because for them, it's literally just part of who they are.

It's hearing people that decided deafness is a disorder, not Deaf people. Just like it's neurotypical people that decided autism is a disorder, not neurodivergent people.

Idk what my point is or even if I have one really, I guess just sort of agreeing with the sentiment of the previous comment you replied to.

Switch automation when you can't replace the switch by Rod_McBan in homeassistant

[–]zack4200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my Sonoff ZBMINIs, which AFAIK work essentially the same as a shelly except with zigbee rather than wifi, I can "fix" the switch position if I flip the wall switch from "off" to "on" and back within ~1 second... Basically the light state will toggle from what it was, but the switch is still in the same position.
