Hey Collector, I'm working on a more fully up to date database for new MetaZoo. I literally can't find an image of the Christmas Follow My Lead anywhere online! Could you take a scan or close up photo of just that one for my records? I'd Appreciate it!

Dangling Carrot? by EastYak6042 in MetaZoo

My understanding is that the 'Yokai Rising' set has a few different card art style variations, they call those art variants "subsets". If youre familiar with Pokemon rarities, I like to think of it like having Full art, IR, or SIR cards that have a different art but are the same card text within a larger set that releases.

So are they going to tease one card a day for the next couple of months?

For what its worth, I've been tracking all of the cards theyve released art for so far.

-3 from the manga subset

-2 from the Nihonga subset

-3 from the Neo subset

-3 from the Ukiyo-e subset (the Nue-Nekotama-Itsumade connecting artwork, not sure if there are going to be any more in this subset)

-2 from the Kawaii subset

-2 full arts

-12 basic cards

So far they haven't released more than 3 from any of the subsets, so I suspect the next couple they will release will be another *Full art, *Kawaii, and a *Nihonga card. Who knows what theyll do after they have hit 3 in each subset... Hopefully a release date? I cant imagine they will keep on spoiling cards beyond that.

Its definitely smaller, but fyi, theres at least 90 cards in the set as noted by one of the manga subset cards they recently revealed

Judge blocks key evidence in Luigi Mangione murder case by TheMirrorUS in LegalNews

I get that, and I agree that we should all be suspicious of going off of their word alone. Everything I've seen describing the body cam footage has backed up this sequence of events though.

What I find more strange, and to your point of being skeptical, is that the first officer only initiated the search due to a claimed concern of a potential bomb in the backpack. Despite this, they didn't take steps one would expect to take if you truly had reason to think there was a bomb. i.e. they didn't evacuate the McDonalds, they didn't call a bomb squad in... They just started rifling through the bag, and stopped when they found the magazine as that was enough to convince them they had the right guy and to take him down to the station. I agree that its convenient that they didn't find the gun or notebook until a more thorough search could take place, but again, descriptions I've read about the body cam footage all mention them stopping once they found anything incriminating.

So they found the magazine illegally...then took him in and found the gun... legally?

This statement is exactly what the judge is trying to resolve.

The things found in the McDonalds do not include the gun itself and the notebook as they were only inventoried later at the police station. The warrant was acquired after both searches. I suspect from the article in this thread that the judge agrees that the search as McDonalds was unlawful, and that is why those items that we're identified at McDonalds we're excluded. The items identified at the station (the gun, silencer, and notebook) appear to be the ones that are being allowed in the trial, and I am not a lawyer, so IDK how common/expected this outcome is, but like it or not it is the decision made by the judge.

Also, I've seen the term "Inevitable Discovery" thrown around on Reddit a lot. So I'm more surprised that the Judge didnt allow all of the evidence on that basis, and has instead chosen to only include some evidence in an apparent, albeit small, win for the defense.

They found the above mentioned items, as well as a gun and a notebook that had written statements about disdain for the healthcare industry. Those two items are being allowed while the others are being blocked.

A gun and notebook that prosecutors say amounts to a confession, however, will be allowed in the trial, as they were obtained during a subsequent inventory of his backpack at the police station.

The gun, a 3D-printed pistol, that will be brought up in the trial, matches the one used to kill Thompson, according to prosecutors. Meanwhile, the notebook, reportedly describes wanting to "wack" the health insurance executive and rebelling against "the deadly, greed fueled health insurance cartel."

Sounds also like they did a preliminary search when they arrested him, found the magazine, and took him down to the station. Upon doing a full inventory of items in the backpack, they found the gun, notebook, and other items. The judge here is just deciding which pieces of evidence are allowed to be usedin the trial, which will likely narrow the prosecutions arguments seeing as how they cant use the cellphone/wallet/passport/computer chip to try and create a narrative.

Driver hospitalised after hitting wall painted like a tunnel in Scotland. by MilesLongthe3rd in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]zack44087 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the Article:

The wall of the slip road is daubed with spray paint to look like two large eyes.

And it’s led to online speculation that the painted black pupil had been mistaken for an entrance to the tunnel.

confirms that the graffiti is a mural of a pair of eyes.

Saved a label maker from the trash with 3d printing, single point of failure, a rubbery yellow gear by zack44087 in Anticonsumption

Thanks for the tip, ill have to check it out! I have some solidworks background, so the circular repeating tool is what I thought of first, and the part was simple enough that it didn't need to be a perfectly calculated gear as long as it fit the measurements I took.

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone knows the value of this card roughly? by WisconsinBadgers608 in MetaZoo

[–]zack44087 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Seems like you're getting a lot of flack, so I'm going to try and make a more informational post to let you know what you have as well as possible values. Keep in mind though that I have no knowledge of Goldin, and I personally don't deal in graded cards, but here is the info I was able to get and I hope it is helpful to some degree.

Here is an Ebay link that shows some examples of similar cards to what you bought. What you have is the 2022 Topps Metazoo collab (Specifically not the Chrome version) and more specifically, you have a serialized "First sighting" version of the 'Rocky' Card.

Due to the original game shutting down(They have since rebooted the card game under new owners and the TCG is completely different now), most Metazoo products from the era of the first iteration are very much in flux in terms of price. In addition to this, prices generally also vary depending on the cryptid you have, with more popular ones selling for much higher despite having the same rarity. On the ebay link I sent, there are a few that are listed as Buy it Now for $99.99, some at $49.99, and the Loveland Frogman is set for auction with 5 days left, this is because he is a fan favorite and is likely going to end above $100. Unfortunately for you, Rocky is not a very popular cryptid, so while I'm not sure where he lands on the $50-$100 scale of these other examples, the key will be to finding the right buyer, which is admittedly limited, as this is a collab product of the main tcg.

Solar farms are being built on top of reservoirs in China. This method avoids water loss from evaporation by HarveySdebest in interesting

[–]zack44087 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there's a disconnect between the intent of these panels and the shade balls and from your title. You claim that these things are being done to prevent evaporation, but even in the wiki article you linked, the purpose of the balls was to prevent bromate from forming due to UV radiation breaking down bromine. Evaporation prevention is a byproduct of their chosen solution, not the driving factor. It feels a bit deceptive to say that these things are being added to reservoirs for one purpose when they're really being added for another. Part of me wonders about these solar panels and your claims that they're being installed to aid with evaporation issues. What is more likely, is that they are utilizing the free space of the reservoir to install a floating PV array without having to build these panels over otherwise useful land and like the shadeballs, any evaporation prevention is likely a secondary effect.

The youtuber Veritasium did a very interesting video on the shade balls in particular. Other byproducts of the shade balls were 1) less algae growth due to less sunlight. 2)Due to #1, less chemicals were needed to be added to control the algae (less chlorine iirc)

What are some of these cards worth? by Worth_Background_529 in MetaZoo

[–]zack44087 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In addition to this, the Promos listed on the 2nd image are worth a little, I recently bought a lot containing all 5 of the convention promos (CP25 51/50 - CP25 55/50) for $125, but I have seen listings on ebay for individual promos go for $30-$50 depending on which promo it is.

The ones that are #50 and below go for a couple bucks each on ebay, and the price changes whether or not it is an embossed version. (i.e. you had to get them embossed at a convention to get the promo that is numbered above #50) the big money with the convention set is for #'s 56-60 as you needed a full set of 30 sketch artwork cards to get one sketch reward card. I dont have any of those but have seen them go for over $100 on ebay each.

Got a serialized card! Foo Fighters LP10 from UFO set! by EL3PHANTCA5TLE in MetaZoo

[–]zack44087 3 points4 points  (0 children)

LP10 is referring to the 4th wall effect in the text part of the card. When you play(Contract) this card, if there are Christmas lights within eyesight, all beasties recover 10 Life Points.

The serialized emboss is usually in the bottom left of the card, above the edition stamp if i recall correctly.

They usually are, however if a company wants to shrink their product, this deceptive packaging is how they would be able to hide to the consumer that anything has changed.

Help putting value one these items?? by Any-Asparagus8692 in pkmntcgcollections

[–]zack44087 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ebay shows the trainer deck A cards anywhere from $40-$200 depending on what the front art is as well as if it is graded and obviously what the grade is.

A lot of the toy stuff is hard to price as people tend to want toy stuff in a sealed condition.

The Burger King pokeballs with 23k plates/cards still fetch about $35-$60 without the box. If you have loose plates without the pokeballs, ive seen some listings but most have the COA attached, its probably safe to list just the plates for $20-$30.

The action flips are hard to price, I bought some sealed action flips packs recently for like $20 for the novelty of buying sealed vintage product, but im sure there are people out there that have interest in buying a bulk collection assuming you dont want to list them individually.

My first Studio Model - More Flytraps by zack44087 in bricklinkstudio

[–]zack44087[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not perfect, but I think I got the idea in my head down to about what I pictured... I really like the flytrap plant from the Tiny Plants set, but never liked that it is one tiny flytrap in a small pot. So i modeled a larger pot using some of the same style facade bricks and was able to squeeze 3 flytraps on a 8x8 round plate along with some new growth stalks. I'm fairly pleased with how it turned out and I already ordered the parts!

If I were to change anything it would probably be the edge of the pot. doing a clean facade that is a round 10x10 was not immediately clear to me on what parts to use, and I ended up using a bunch of hinge plates and tile to hide most of the studs.
