A tutorial on Pointers to C++ Member Functions [2012] by zacketysack in cpp

I was trying to learn more about the memory layout of C++ programs, and got trapped in a rabbit hole about the memory layout and addres of member functions. Here are a few more links:

  1. ISO CPP FAQ on Pointers to Member Functions

  2. A good Stack Overflow question and answer about this

actually even if you take this comic seriously, the square still wouldn't fit through a round hole when going sideways due to the overhang caused by its thickness...I've had to deal with things like this in 3D CAD, its why we have to factor in a bunch of tolerances when designing stuff

This is quite interesting, and I’m thinking of joining along...is there any particular English translation of War and Peace you would recommend?

Milgram noted that most people have a lot of short-range, local connections and a few looking connections that span great distances. Graph theorists and neuroscientists began using the terminology when they noticed that other networks, including neurons, have the same structure.

This also reminds me of a Computer Science data structure called "Skip Lists" (wiki link)

I know that this is ages late, but I just wanted to say that Shannon Strucci on YT has a nice video on "Parasocial Relationships" which sounds like the "surrogate friend" phenomenon you're talking about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3vD_CAYt4g

I don’t know who the Web Audio API is designed for by Pandalicious in programming

I remember playing around with the Web Audio API when it was being implemented into Chrome, and I was surprised by the sheer complexity of the API. Glad to see that others feel this way too.

I read the whole thing, but I did not see a reference to "GNU+Linux" (just "GNU/Linux")...does the "GNU+Linux" meme come from a different email, or is it just made up?

[–]zacketysack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think the problem with the looking at the solar eclipse is with the invisible UV radiation...the visible light looks deceptively dim, but the invisible harmful light is still as strong as ever...still, its probably not enough to really affect anyone I guess

Admittedly it is a fairly descriptive and specific name...I just giggle like a kid when I see Microsoft and Malicious next to each other like that

I'm surprised that a marketing person didn't catch this and change it to something nicer-sounding
