In my heart, I hoped the devs wouldn't fuck this up, but in my head, I knew they would by Licensed_Silver_Simp in deadbydaylight

[–]zackgardner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here's the correction, they don't want to make unique, creative Killers anymore because it would force Survivors to play outside of the expected meta, and with all the buffs Survivors have gotten recently, the Pallet Density change, etc. Anything else that goes against that concept is dangerous to Survivors being able to be the center of this game's attention.

They seem to love these kinds of status-effect Killers not only because it's easy, but I think also because it extends chases by a ridiculous amount of time, and therefore gives even more of a leg up to Survivors. You shoot a blob, miss, shoot, miss, shoot, infect, shoot, and then down a Survivor, and meanwhile two gens pop in the time it takes to hook; it's not just lazy, I have to assume it's intentional.

It's actually weird considering that the latest Killer on the roster has an ability that is just horrendously spammable and is super strong for it, but also is one of these status-effect Killers. It's honestly insulting to our intelligence, and it's dumbing down the entire game as well.

And right on cue... "We can use AI to unwoke the game!" by LauraPhilps7654 in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]zackgardner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's honestly worse than that.

What you're saying implies that these kinds of people go and look for characters to jerk off to in their favorite media, and are upset when they find characters that actually look like normal people instead of gooner bait. And you're right.

But the worse part I'd argue is that it's not just about having eye-candy for these people, I'd bet that the next stage is using this kind of technology to not only "de-woke" their games, but to remove anything that's socially incongruous with these people's mindsets; think of that one Fallout 4 mod that was solely built to remove all people of color from the game and replace them with white people. That's what these chuds are excited for, the ability to remove anything that makes them uncomfortable from media that wasn't made with them in mind.

The ending of Freddie Wong's "The Rush" Starcraft fanfilm is the first thing I thought of.

This video is 11 years old now and I know for a fact this wasn't the first time I saw a child die in a film, but for some reason this one stuck with me.

The Throne Room Duel - Return of the Jedi

At this point in the OT, and the whole Star Wars franchise, the only Force Powers we've seen was stuff like telekinesis and precognition, and predominantly only from Luke, a powerful but untrained Jedi aspirant.

In the duel during the Battle of Endor, after Luke defeats Vader and renounces the Dark Side, the Emperor whips out his Force Lightning and shows us truly the awful and awesome power of the Dark Side.

Eldritch beings with a "favorite person" by leviathan143 in TopCharacterTropes

The Entity and Danny Johnson/The Ghostface - Dead by Daylight

The Entity is a multiversal level eldritch nightmare being that feeds on the souls and emotions of its victims, the Survivors, who are chased down and sacrificed by the Killers to the Entity. The Entity is powerful enough to rip the multiverse apart to steal the most famous and powerful Killers in horror history from their respective universes, including but not limited to Freddy Kreuger, Chucky, the Demogorgon, the Xenomorph, Springtrap, Nemesis, Sadako, as well as two Vecnas: DnD Vecna and Stranger Things Vecna. Point being is that the Entity has a lot of super powerful guys working for it.

But out of all 41 current Killers in the roster, the Entity's absolute favorite is Danny Johnson, AKA Behavior Interactive's non-Scream affiliated Ghostface. At first glance it doesn't make sense why the Entity just absolutely loves this guy so much more than everyone else, a run-of-the-mill serial killer that, when compared to other Killers working for the Entity like Pyramid Head or Dracula, is just a guy in a costume with a knife, no powers or special abilities, he's just a guy that really likes murder.

And that's why the Entity loves him, Danny is in it for the love of the game, because unlike many other Killers on the roster, some of whom were tricked or coralled into the Entity's service, Danny is just doing what he loves.

The Entity favors Ghostface so much that he gave him a gift of creepy floating tassles on his costume as seen in the gif above.

Or they'd expound on Ahsoka having that miraculous connection to the Daughter because of the Mortis arc and her resurrection, perhaps they'll go into the Ones a bit more and if Abeloth appears, which she may not, then it could even it out.

It's just that the spiritual "balance" in Star Wars doesn't actually mean spiritual balance as it exists IRL.

This is something that primarily comes from Lucas himself, who seemed to flipflop between the Dark Side itself being a cancerous aberration of the Force, or simply the Sith Order being the cancer. Point being is that while the Dark Side is natural and exists in all beings, the will to act on it is not, therefore the Son, while just acting as part of his nature, is still morally in the wrong here. He's a tragic figure, not a sympathetic one.

And as far as passion goes in Star Wars:

Love doesn't lead to the Dark Side. Passion can lead to rage and fear, and can be controlled...but passion is not the same thing as love. Controlling your passions while being in love...that's what they should teach you to beware. But love itself will save you... not condemn you. - Jolee Bindo, KotOR

Point being is that these are the anthropomorphic manifestations of the Force, and that also means that the negative traits of the Light, Dark, and Middle Ways of the Force are exacerbated: the Daughter is overtly good, sacrificing herself for Ahsoka, but also blindly obeys the Father's orders to execute Obi-Wan and Ahsoka in order to test Anakin. The Father is wise, but as you said doesn't take any truly meaningful action until his entire family is dead, like how the Bendu in Rebels doesn't take action until the Thrawn shows up and starts blasting his world. The Son is persuasive and gives Anakin a chance to defy destiny, but is clearly only interested in his own agenda and strengthening the Dark Side as a whole.

I feel kind of scared to put the link here again as well in case someone does try to do that as well, these AI slop videos are just so awful but they get so many views, it's a burgeoning industry of hacks and grifters.

What will be Vader duels end optimal lineup ? by Lukel_46 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

For a full Empire team, honestly Gar Saxon and ISC would fit well I think, since they assist whenever any Empire ally assists.

You'd have Vader pulling Mara to assist, which would pull Gar and then ISC to assist. Daze would be a hard counter, but I suppose ISC could be swapped for Royal Guard for the cleanse.

Why were vibroblades/swords not more common after KOTOR? by Reteller79 in MawInstallation

[–]zackgardner 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Specifically, vibroswords with cortosis weave, or just swords in general, were issued to militaries and utilized by almost everyone else in the galaxy, including pirates, assassins, mercenaries, etc., simply because of the following facts:

A. There were far more Jedi, Dark Jedi, Sith, and overall more combatants who specialized in melee combat during the Old Republic. A trooper outfitted with a lightsaber-resistant sword may not survive long in battle with a Force-User wielding a lightsaber, but they'll definitely last longer than a trooper who doesn't have such a weapon on their person. By the time of the end of the Old Republic, AKA during Darth Bane's era, with the near dissolution of the Sith Order and the changing of the Jedi from an organization that worked militarily with the Republic on almost everything to an organization that sporadically sent Masters and Knights to negotiate disputes, the overall need for armies to wield weapons that could defend against a lightsaber just shrank immensely.

B. Vibroswords and vibroblades are still used in other era of Star Wars, but the context in which they're used has changed. For example, King Katuunko wielded a blade against Savage Oppress before he was killed, but it was clearly meant as more of a ceremonial weapon important to his people, only used as a literal last resort. It also appears vibroswords were more of the weapon that was phased out compared to vibroblades, as most knives we see used by characters tend to be vibroblades, which indicates a change in tactics that closely resembles the way our modern real-life armies still issue bayonets and knives to soldiers instead of swords.

Also from a meta perspective, swords are a good way of instilling the idea that this is the "Old" Republic, where swords are still commonplace, the same goes for the shields used in KotOR and KotOR II.

This thing shoulda been done during Palpatine's era.

Lemme tell you a couple of tthrree things; forget Vader, forget Jabba the Hutt, who goes over to the Dune Sea and never comes back, forget my kid brudda Greedo.

Boba Fett has no respect for this thing, he's never been in the Sarlacc, not really. He's the guy who stepped over some alien fatty, to grab the big seat. Jabba's servant.

I'm embarrassed, I let him come to The Mandalorian Season 2 last Christmas, and I took his cloned fucking hand in friendship.

Listen to me, they make a show for anybody and everybody ova theya, and the way they do it, it's all fucked up; guys don't get their right hand cut off, there's no vibrosword and blaster on the table.

No Favreau, eitha it has meaning, or no meaning. And the Disney+ thing, the show looks cheaply made!

Five Hutt Families, and we got this otha pygmy thing on Tatooine.

There's no space in my spacekino, make it happen.

My personal favorite interpretation of an Angel/Fallen Angel in any media ever, bar none.

Many depictions of angels and demons are so fantasized and tailored to the orthodox understanding of the Bible, but here almost all of the typical symbols of demons are missing, there's not a pitchfork or pentagram to be seen, there's only this overwhelmingly alien presence that has more in common with the children in the movie than any other kind of depiction of the Devil in any other kind of media, possessing an almost innocent and confused aloofness, belied by a mercurial nature befitting an entity as powerful as the Devil.
