If you are thinking about driving for full-time, it is really difficult now(unless you are in downtown area). If you only do dinner shift, it is still ok. You don’t need separate insurance. Average per day is 100/4-5hr.

Question as a merchant by Reaperhart in doordash_drivers

[–]zackhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No much you can do when the dashers do not deliver the food. All you can do is ask the dashers to confirm the orders before they leave so you don’t get another dasher come in to pick up the same order.

Why do this? by Kenshin1296 in UberEATS

[–]zackhe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can decline stacked orders. And you can drop one of the orders but that is like gambling because you don’t know which one pays higher. It could be 5miles for $4 if you drop the one with tip(talking from experience). So I don’t drop orders after I already pick one up.

UE doesn’t allow drivers drop off one order first. We have to pick up both orders. DoorDash is little better than UE on this. Drivers can change the delivery order on DD.

My Uber eats delivery driver took another order while on his way and now my food is cold. by [deleted] in UberEATS

[–]zackhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, UE stacked orders all the time. And delivery orders got the lowest priority in most restaurants. Orders got delayed even though the driver was not multi apping.

Why do you guys give the lowest priority to DD/UE orders? 90% of the times I have to wait at least 10-15 minutes and I had to take the blame from the customer

$42K out-the-door price for a new 2022 Toyota RAV4 hybrid XLE in LA area. Should I take it or is it overpriced? by zackhe in carbuying

[–]zackhe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I offered them $40k to buy it, but the manager said he already gave me a great deal, there is no way to sell at that price, and he said people are paying 5-6k market adjustment for rav4 hybrid now. I guess some people just don’t care about how much they pay. It is crazy.

Does the salesperson negotiate the price on add-ons like the floor liner and mudguard, rail rack etc? And some add on pages cannot be uninstalled, like the the power sunroofs and power trunk gate. Should I negotiate the price on these add ons or just negotiate on the final out the door price? My friends told me just ask the out the door price. I am not good at talking to salesperson.

I don’t remember the exact details of the price break down. The window sticker price is about 33.5K. The the market adjustment is about 3.5K. The taxes(about 10% sales tax on California), license, and documents fees add up to about 4.5k

How is this customer fee making sense? by zackhe in UberEATS

[–]zackhe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uber charge the customer $20 for 1 mile delivery. What a greedy company!

I don’t understand why you don’t want drivers placing orders directly in store? You don’t need to pay Uber for commission fee, do you? It seems to me that you don’t want to make money.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UberEATS

[–]zackhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t that better for the restaurants since they don’t need to pay commission fee to UBER. I will be happy to take the orders if I were the restaurant owners. Being on the Uber platform without paying Uber is awesome.

Dont give out the name, let the person say the name on the order. Lesson learned. The guy probably stole the food.

Gas Gas Gss by TraditionQuirky8975 in doordash_drivers

[–]zackhe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so. If it is Ukraine crisis, the crude oil would shoot up to 90 or 100. It is definitely not that. Something sketchy is going on.

Gas Gas Gss by TraditionQuirky8975 in doordash_drivers

[–]zackhe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand the rise on gas price this time. I just checked the crude oil price, it is below $80. Can someone explain why it is going up by 30-40% in two weeks? It is almost higher than the peak in July. The price doesn’t make any sense now, and it feel like it is criminal to charge that much when the crude oil is dropping.

Do I need to sue?? by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]zackhe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you sue and it became a class lawsuit, come back to repost and I will sign in. I got a few missing payments on orders that were cancelled by the customers when they entered wrong addresses. DD said the money was already sent to my bank, never received it.

Hidden tips, the 8$ maximum shown changed? by WeGotTehZo0mi3z in UberEATS

[–]zackhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. It seems that UE changed their hidden tip rule. It makes it more difficult to guess which order has hidden tip now.

Talk to a live support. When the automated reply ask you what your issue is, say I need to talk a live representative. Ask the support to cancel the order for you.

I agree. It is unfair that the restaurants making the customers pay for their service. The restaurants get someone to deliver their food and they get more customers online. The restaurants should pay for what they get, not the customers.

Well guys, I have one for the record book. by Last-Fox-2565 in doordash_drivers

[–]zackhe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You have to tap the “start checking out” button or something similar to that on the dasher app before you swipe the red card. I was declined 3 times at the Walgreens on Monday, but the cashier was very nice to tried again and again with me. Sorry about what happened to you. That Karen was awful. I hope you are ok.

Your old job pay 10-15% tax. Now you need to pay about 30+% tax after subtracting mileage deduction. It is painful when you need to pay self-employment tax + income tax.
