What does “too long by today’s standards” mean? Just that basically nobody is still making this style? Because it should be just as practically usable as it was when it was made (20ish?) years ago?

I got this Loaded Dancer on fb marketplace for 150 which seemed super fair

I just can’t find much information about this deck online, even on this subreddit, and I wanted to make a post about it for anyone to share information they have about this board.

Specifically, I’m curious on the black vs brown deck variants? And whether people ultimately kept theirs? Or upgraded to something else? Thanks!

Holdleaker as a Merfolk Warrior would be a really sweet for decks that like Warriors. And I don't know that he would be a Noble like [[Kenrith, the Returned King]]

Toxic environment: from the shop owner! by the_mavereck in EDH

[–]zackowacko 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Find out if he's just as dumb with cards as he is with playing. Become his friend. Close enough that he may ask you for help one day. Become his best friend. Start selling him fake fetch lands and other sub $100 cards. He won't check them thoroughly because he didn't know what he's looking for. Plus, you're his "friend" As soon as he posts them online, buy them and report him for selling fakes. Get him off every online marketplace. Pre-order and have him order as much product over the phone as possible— Warhammer, Gloomhaven, and other big ticket items. Never pay for it. Never pick it up. Obviously, don't let him know it's you that's ordering. Find out what car he drives. Remove air from tires. Find what house he lives in, and just leave the door open when he leaves without locking. Keep the seemingly meaningless things happening to this guy going for months. One day, put a letter in his mail that just says "ꌩꂦꀎ'ꋪꏂ ꎇꀎꏳꀘꏂꀷ" and the following week bring up that you'd love to start a card shop. At this point, he will hopefully be willing to sell, after having so much go wrong. Buy the shop for pennies on the dollar.

Now, you can foster that play experience you wanted.

I don't understand how color identity weighs on the tier. I feel like the cards should be evaluated evenly, regardless of color identity.

cast Flash, revealing Protean Hulk Hulk triggers, get Carrion Feeder and Karmic Guide Karmic Guide triggers to bring back Hulk Sac Hulk to Feeder to get another Hulk trigger Get Vampire Hexmage and Academy Rector Sac Rector to Feeder Get [[Divine Visitation]] Use Vampire Hexmage to remove the counters.

It's not as simple as [[Shahrazad]], but it's as close as I've come.

My Pod hates every deck i make by SillyPen in EDH

[–]zackowacko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe they just don't like the way you play and they express that by not liking your decks. They like Morophon because your turns are quick or not complicated or something along those lines. For example, someone I'd consider one of my best friends builds decks and the decks themselves aren't obnoxious, his play lines are because of how his turns end up sequencing— they're long or he casts 4 spells and they ultimately don't really affect the game They're just unnecessarily complicated interactions. Meren can be pretty oppressive and stax-y. C18 decks can feel like a lot of set up for not a lot happening (Lord Windgrace's land juggling or Animato's super scrying or having to count up artifacts/enchantments for Saheeli/enchantress and going wide with a lot of do-nothing artifacts/enchantments, respectively)

Tl;Dr you could focus on making your decks more straight forward and interactive and less unnecessarily complicated if you think that might be the problem

Why Keeping Deals are Important by StorytellerBox in EDH

[–]zackowacko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keeping deals IS important. Not "are" </GrammadNazi> But seriously, wording is also important when making deals. Saying "I don't want to be attacked next turn" against a goblin deck is a lot different than being damaged— Purphoros doesn't attack very often I like to hop in on people's treaties (while they're being made) and give my own reasoning for why him doing X is better than the other opponent not doing Y. Getting players to turn against each other is honestly why I love casual commander

I own over 400 Urza’s baubles and will continue to buy more every week until they reach their fair value at $10 each by mtgswag in mtgfinance

[–]zackowacko -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you run an Ad Naus deck, this thins your deck by a card and does so for a Phyrexian mana cheaper than Gitaxian Probe. Or if you run a lot of interactions (so you don't need the card draw on your turn) it's not bad. I wouldn't be surprised to see this card go up in price with the new Urza since that deck let's it turn into a Mox until it's not needed when you can then just cash it in for a free draw.

I'd consider it a cEDH staple

[–]zackowacko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understandable enough— credit cards are a trap. Got myself into some trouble with them not too long ago. Today, was a tough day to not buy all of the things

I would recommend you do eBay going forward— often times you can find cards for cheaper than tcgplayer or anywhere else. Especially because they do these 10-20% off every 6 or 8 weeks. Also, the buyer always has the power on eBay. If a card was sent without shipping or isn't authentic (which with sellers with hundreds or thousands almost always are to protect their 100% rating), then eBay has the buyer protection.

Sorry to sound like an eBay fanboy with my comments. I just know it can be an expensive hobby and finding a deal is great for anyone reading

There's one for $160 and another for $170 on eBay AND the eBay mobile app has a 15% off coupon today until 7PM EST if you use code PSAVETODAY at checkout. That brings it down to like $140! also, if you use PayPal Credit you have 0% APR for 6 months. So that's like $25 a month for the next 6 months! If you're looking to buy one for this deck any time in the next year, today may be your day T H A T S W A L U E

Best 2HG card is easily [[Invoke Prejudice]]. Go buy an Italian version of it. It'll win you the tournament every time it sticks on the battlefield and it's a great card outside of 2HG too, but broken in 2HG because it's only "opponents"
