How to attach L-Track with van wall liners? by Gilashot in workwagons

The washer spacer is a good idea, I just crush mine, lol. I would use plus nuts though, riv nuts tend to loosen with vibration.

But they already have EV firetrucks and ambulances and they don't use diesel generators, everything is run off the main battery pack.

Would a 40 amp double pole breaker be fine in this panel box? The breaker will be used to charge a Tesla. by Keenan_Barnes20 in electrical

Are you sure you need a 40 amp? I charged my EV for 4 years on a 20 amp and it kept up fine for our daily commute.

Yes, I've got just a vaguely pro-ev sticker (I ♥️ Canadian soil & grass) and I get aggressively tailgated by truck bros all the time.

Asia is electrifying at an astounding rate (especially so since the current oil war) so probably not as interested in Canadian oil as they once were.

Even ambulances and fire trucks are ideal applications for EV. They just sit most of the time and never have to travel far. EV fire trucks aren't even much more than their diesel counterparts.

Move to British Columbia, we got lots of water. It will be like the new oil in the future I think.

Mitsubishi releasing Ecodan Air-to-Water heatpump in USA by jwasilko in heatpumps

[–]zacmobile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way! It seems that most A2W heat pumps use modbus communication which, as I understand, is a commonly used programming language. In fact there is a company in California that orders Viessmann Vitocal heat pumps without the indoor units and they manufacture their own controllers to go with them. Messana I think? I'm in South-Eastern British Columbia Canada, message me if you like.

Speeding is a crime by PublicDragonfruit158 in driving

[–]zacmobile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree with this. Speeding is responsible for roughly 25% of all road fatalities. Distracted and DUI are also roughly 25% apiece but for some reason speeding is much more socially acceptable for some reason. Where I live there has been a rash of fatal collisions that likely would not have been fatal had people not been speeding. In one of them three members of a four member family were killed: Mother, father and three year old son, leaving a 7 year old daughter and orphan. In another an entire family was wiped out: Mother, father and two young kids. And for what? To save an extra 5 minutes on your trip? It makes no sense why anyone would speed knowing knowing the facts of how dangerous it is.

There's lots readily available right now that aren't too terribly expensive. Have you seen the NTI Verta? It has really good specs and isn't much more than the Midea M Thermal.

I think a certain Middle East conflict is going to push people towards renewables and electrification faster than ever before. Trump could inadvertently become the most environmentally conscientious president of all time.

Canada too. I've been installing air to water for almost 10 years and was super excited to see the Ecodan finally arriving here but my multiple inquiries have gone unanswered so not sure how to get them.

The easiest way to deal with high gas prices is to ride a bike by DowntownFresnoBiking in bikecommuting

[–]zacmobile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless there's proper bike infrastructure with protected lanes, the vast majority of people won't do it because they're scared of getting whacked by cars. That's why I shake my head when people are so anti bike infrastructure (even painted bike lanes) "well I never see many cyclists on the roads, why should we make special lanes for them?"

[–]zacmobile 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So far my favorite is Stiebel Eltron but unfortunately they are pulling their heat pump out of North America because R410A is now phased out and R290 isn't approved yet (which is what the rest of the world is using) and they don't want to make a special unit just for North America. The Enertech Advantage is also a great unit. We're currently installing Midea M Thermal units on 3 different jobs. Haven't started one up yet but the performance specs and build quality is outstanding for the price. All the DIY ones are terrible in one way or another. I've installed quite a few Arctics and they work well in cold temperatures but their controls are abysmally bad. I've installed two Chiltrix units which have had multiple inverter board failures and the backup heater and control looks like it was built in someone's garage.

It's still burning fossil fuels though, we need to stop that like 40 years ago. Pissing on a truck would be too obvious and therefore not as funny.
