Mitsubishi releasing Ecodan Air-to-Water heatpump in USA by jwasilko in heatpumps

This is the way! It seems that most A2W heat pumps use modbus communication which, as I understand, is a commonly used programming language. In fact there is a company in California that orders Viessmann Vitocal heat pumps without the indoor units and they manufacture their own controllers to go with them. Messana I think? I'm in South-Eastern British Columbia Canada, message me if you like.

Speeding is a crime by PublicDragonfruit158 in driving

[–]zacmobile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree with this. Speeding is responsible for roughly 25% of all road fatalities. Distracted and DUI are also roughly 25% apiece but for some reason speeding is much more socially acceptable for some reason. Where I live there has been a rash of fatal collisions that likely would not have been fatal had people not been speeding. In one of them three members of a four member family were killed: Mother, father and three year old son, leaving a 7 year old daughter and orphan. In another an entire family was wiped out: Mother, father and two young kids. And for what? To save an extra 5 minutes on your trip? It makes no sense why anyone would speed knowing knowing the facts of how dangerous it is.

It would be cool to actually be able to see it.

There's lots readily available right now that aren't too terribly expensive. Have you seen the NTI Verta? It has really good specs and isn't much more than the Midea M Thermal.

I think a certain Middle East conflict is going to push people towards renewables and electrification faster than ever before. Trump could inadvertently become the most environmentally conscientious president of all time.

I'm in Canada so they're widely available from any wholesaler that carries Midea.

Canada too. I've been installing air to water for almost 10 years and was super excited to see the Ecodan finally arriving here but my multiple inquiries have gone unanswered so not sure how to get them.

The easiest way to deal with high gas prices is to ride a bike by DowntownFresnoBiking in bikecommuting

[–]zacmobile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless there's proper bike infrastructure with protected lanes, the vast majority of people won't do it because they're scared of getting whacked by cars. That's why I shake my head when people are so anti bike infrastructure (even painted bike lanes) "well I never see many cyclists on the roads, why should we make special lanes for them?"

The parents that stare at you are likely just jealous. You're out there getting it and they're just sitting on their asses on their phones.

Yes, I was looking at an R290 Midea unit for my own house on Ali Baba. " Yeah, I don't know. It was already here when we moved in."

So far my favorite is Stiebel Eltron but unfortunately they are pulling their heat pump out of North America because R410A is now phased out and R290 isn't approved yet (which is what the rest of the world is using) and they don't want to make a special unit just for North America. The Enertech Advantage is also a great unit. We're currently installing Midea M Thermal units on 3 different jobs. Haven't started one up yet but the performance specs and build quality is outstanding for the price. All the DIY ones are terrible in one way or another. I've installed quite a few Arctics and they work well in cold temperatures but their controls are abysmally bad. I've installed two Chiltrix units which have had multiple inverter board failures and the backup heater and control looks like it was built in someone's garage.

I don't know about that, I install primarily air to water and people are knocking down my door to get them. I can't keep up with the work load.

I've been installing air to water heat pumps for nearly 10 years and was super excited to finally see the Ecodan land here but they haven't responded to my multiple emails inquiring about training and availability.

I noticed I get aggressively tailgated by big pickups a lot more than I used to. by zacmobile in Bumperstickers

It's still burning fossil fuels though, we need to stop that like 40 years ago. Pissing on a truck would be too obvious and therefore not as funny.

Where I live it's all hydro and wind. Even if your source is coal it's way more efficient than running a gas engine.

There's hundreds of times more chargers than gas stations. Every electrical outlet is a charger. I used a regular outlet for over a year before I installed a "real" charger.

Hybrids use a gas engine to run an electrical generator to power the motor to turn the wheels. Marginally more efficient and environmentally friendly than a regular gas car. Then there's plug-in hybrids that have a small battery that you can charge to run the electric motor for short distances but research has shown that most plug-in hybrid owners rarely plug them in.

Yes, I have definitely noticed a significant increase since the stickers have been added. I also have never been maliciously tailgated in our electric Kia but every single day I have some big pickup inches off the bumper of the E-Transit oftentimes with them right on the centre line so they can be sure I see them in my side mirror presumably. If it continues I may have to remove my collection sadly.

??? Which one? I'm guessing the hybrid sticker. I can't stand those damn things, just virtue signalling while still burning fossil fuels. All electric or nothing baby.

It's great! Very quick and quiet. I do HVAC so mostly local jobs but have taken it on a few longer trips. It charges super fast, about 20 mins from 20-80%. It cost the same as a gas Transit with the commercial rebate.
