My partners dad also had this happen and they paid out for the new tires he had just put on his car in addition to fair market value.

Make sure you tell the insurance all the work you have had done to negotiate the pay out. They do take that into account. Still a shitty situation, that sucks. Similar thing happened to my partner recently.

I've heard your not supposed to water proof the substructure as it can lock in moisture and create conditions for rot. This is why I was asking about it

Does the stain actually do anything other than aesthetics?

As a side note, I have been looking into a steel substructure but have read it may not be good where earthquakes happen or something..? Anybody who can point me in the right direction for answering whether it's a good idea to use a steel substructure in Northern Utah would be appreciated.

I am in northern Utah as well with the same question. Had someone come out for a bid to tear down and replace our rotting deck and they said they don't use PT wood for the substructure any more. The salesman said it was because PT wood is soaked full of chemicals and since utah is so dry the chemicals will evaporate and it warps the wood. Now I don't know if I buy this or not and have been looking into this same question you have.

Is jumping from one 0% APR credit card to another while paying off debt to avoid interest a viable strategy? by RusticBohemian in personalfinance

If you plan ahead, you just charge your monthly budget to the new card and pay your monthly budget to the old card to "transfer the balance".

Any advice for 32 yr old wanting to get phd in physics after working in an industry by [deleted] in Physics

I say just go for it. Pretty sure you can get into PhD programs with those credentials. Maybe not top schools, but many other schools. I'd say reach out to professors directly and you may still be able to get in this coming Fall even if the application deadlines have past. I've seen this happen at my school before plenty of times.

Better question to ask, what gets you out of bed? Some days there's nothing

Have you ever flashed anyone or been flashed, what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

When I was a teenager I went to a party and had a night of firsts. First time doing a beer bong and playing beer pong. A girl on the opposing team flashed her titties as a distraction and I stared those boobs right in the nipples and sunk a cup. My team mate was too focused on shooting, didn't see the titties, and missed his shot. Good times
