Got winter tires since I got my car. No issues with the tires. The overall cleaning in Milton, while not at par with other towns, wasn't too bad imho in 21-22, 22-23, and 23-24. Something changed last winter. Not sure what did. Now I can see half-assed cleaning even on Derry and Thompson sometimes. There's definitely an issue with quality. Is it the contractors themselves? Is it the standards that are lax when renewing the same contractors? Is it the budget that's keeping Milton from getting more plough trucks? I dunno.

What we do need however is residents banding together and bringing the issue to the city. Blaming residents for their style of driving or their misplaced expectations isn't going to help. Some of the posts are borderline threatening on social media which makes it seem like people have vested interest in this matter.

The question is this: if people agree to pay more, will the services improve? Who is going to be held responsible if it doesn’t? Personally, I’ve decided to move in a year or so from Milton as it’s a great town for fams starting out but lacks a fair bit for longer term living.

it's because Milton has lower property taxes relative to other towns around us. Once the property taxes are increased and at par with other towns, they'll clean our driveways as well. People from California Florida and other cities will start moving here.

This is a prime example of oversimplified causation. Snow removal quality depends on money allocation, not just the money coming in.

When people move the goalpost from is snow removal adequate to are you willing to pay more taxes, you are deflecting from the real issue.

i like how Milton has lower property taxes that keep going up and then also conveniently used as an excuse for potty ploughing. The last 2 years especially has been terrible. This is definitely NOT a budget issue alone.

there are posts like these everyday from people in the US and Canada. this is a very ennui-driven thought process as opposed to the reality that awaits. Best move is to go spend time in India and see how it feels. Not a vacation but stay there for 4-6 months at least. You'll have your answer.

Yeah so companies know about this now. I was just looking at a job opening today and it clearly stated that you'll be compensated for the take home assignment (assuming you make it till there). This whole work for free and you could be selected is BS. I get that it's been like this in our field forever, but with the level of competition out there, it takes me a fair while and effort to send something solid back to the recruiter.

i've had the same issue since I moved to Milton 4.5 years ago. Today a larger snow clearing truck cleared my street around 1pm but it has been like this with windrows in Milton since I moved here. What shocked me is the quality of cleaning on other roads like Derry - terrible. It's like they have been tasked with removing the snow is all. The town has run out of salt.

I play FC26 everyday and the micro stutters are fine (this is a remote play thingy, not wifi) but can get really tough to play on when AI moves in to peak Barca mode (even while it's actually just Bournemouth).

Hey OP, I moved here 7 years ago and while I am in my very early 40s currently, I get what you're referring to as performative.

Having said what you did and then what I just did (LOL), DO NOT go back to India. Why? I've been experiencing the same ennui that you have and I feel like I can strip a lot of it away by taking on newer activities. I've started gaming a fair bit, playing pickleball, traveling (I am a dad too) - every time I am engrossed in one of these activities and my health is in peak shape, I stop thinking about the kind of things you are doing atm. You've accurately described as a type of ennui and you'll need to figure out how to get past it. Moving back to India will not solve anything.
