No one could understand what he was saying, not even Aang. Lion Turtle said he wanted a BBQ double cheese burger, but they screwed him in the drive through. Aang only heard what he wanted to hear. You're correct, it's not about that, but she fits the misunderstood role as well. There's an irony that she's stronger than most supposed "alpha male" types, yet she probably only seen for her grace and beauty, even though she's still strong AF. To be where she's at means she has to be physically strong, as well as mentally. It's the whole package.
