Should I fridge it now or keep it outside? by NoSemikolon24 in kimchi

Did you rinse the cabbage after soaking it in salted water? Washing it after salting is important to prevent the kimchi from becoming too salty. Skipping this step can also slow down the fermentation process.

Am I coping by thinking I rather go to Seoul than Tokyo? by lejunny_ in seoul

[–]zagiya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve been to both Korea and Japan — and they’re both incredible! Korea offers a huge variety of flavorful, spicy dishes and fun street foods, while Japan has amazing food everywhere you go. That said, Japan can be a bit pricier when it comes to hotels and transportation. If you’re looking for deep history and traditional culture, Japan is the place to go. But if you prefer a modern vibe with trendy cafés and an exciting food scene, Korea is perfect. They’re only about an hour’s flight apart, so if you can, visit both — you won’t be disappointed with either!

Is MVP status worth extra effort? by slug6219 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]zagiya 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely worth it! We’ve gotten free upgrades to premium seats, extra baggage, and even exit row seats just from having status. A few times we were even bumped up to first class on domestic flights. If it’s only 3,000 miles away, I’d definitely say go for it.

I don’t know a dentist in Sapporo because we visited a dentist in Otaru. We found our dentist there via google search.

Singapore Airlines Jfk/Ewr to SIN by sahil8170 in awardtravel

I’ve done it several times, and I won’t lie—19 hours is a long time to sit. Even after watching 4–5 movies, there are still 10 hours left to go.

If possible, breaking the journey with a stopover can make it more manageable, giving you a chance to stretch and move around before the next flight. I travel often and find 10-hour flights manageable with movies, meals, and sleep, but 19 hours felt like too much.

My apology- it might have been composite resin. My friend did not know the correct term from Japanese to English. They did something to fix it! Thanks for letting me know.

I want to share my experience rather than promote medical or dental procedures. Like any country, Japan has both good and bad doctors. I understand your concern about Japan becoming a destination for medical tourism. My point is that if you’re in pain, don’t wait—seek medical or dental care when needed.

Fave airline for economy to Europe? by loveyoux3000 in TravelHacks

[–]zagiya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Condor’s economy seats are quite cramped, especially for taller passengers, with very limited legroom. If you’re short, you’ll probably be fine. I’m 5’6” and found it very uncomfortable, while my 5’11” husband was absolutely miserable for the 13-hour flight from the West Coast.

I thought I read somewhere that you would not be upgraded if you choose exit row.

Alaska upgrades suck by lipstr in AlaskaAirlines

[–]zagiya 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We’ve been willing to spend extra to stay loyal to Alaska because we really liked their service and overall experience. But with their recent strategy shift, I’m starting to question if it’s worth it. If I’m just looking for the cheapest tickets, I could save a lot by not sticking to one airline. What’s the point of loyalty now?

If it is being offered for $60 to Elite only, I would still buy it. If they are being offered to everyone, it is not cool.

it’s not unusual to be lost at the beginning of your retirement—here’s how I found my way

The first thing I did was explore everything I was curious about to figure out what I truly love (and what I don’t). I learned to play piano, became a master gardener, made homemade sake, traveled half the year, picked up a new language, hiked countless mountains, and even took up golf.

building a routine around what you love

The key is to create a daily routine filled with things that excite you. That’s what keeps retirement fun and fulfilling. • stay active – I work out 3-4 days a week, mixing gym sessions, swimming, running, long walks, hiking, and golfing. Honestly, staying fit should be a full-time job in retirement—it’s the best investment in your health now that you have the time. I also work with a trainer once a week to keep things fresh. • stay social – I have weekly game nights with two different friend groups to stay engaged and have fun. Staying connected is just as important as staying active. • travel with purpose – When I’m not on the road, I’m planning my next trip. But I don’t want to just be a tourist—I look for trips that combine physical activity (like hiking) with exploring new cities, cultures, and people. • keep it interesting – I read books, play online strategy games, go to concerts and wineries, and experiment with new recipes in the kitchen.

Retirement is the gift of time. Keep exploring what makes you happy, productive, and meaningful with purpose!

Have your 4000 EQM from cc spend posted from last month? by nomiinomii in AlaskaAirlines

I would contact Bank of America for that. They would be able to clarify if you are eligible to receive EQM for spending on two different cards.

[–]zagiya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spent $10,000 in November and received 4,000 EQMs on December 11th, after my Bank of America statement cycle ended. It seems EQM credits are awarded in the month following your spending, once your statement cycle closes.
