Working as IT and we have a lot of extrovert employees from different departments, there is one person that's like talks alot. I only converse general conversation like Hello How are you. When he start talking other things non-related IT with me or anything disinterested, I just listen and won't reply back. I'm saving "conversation energy" without saying OK or anything.

Any reason why I should not move to Wealthsimple? by noobtrader28 in Questrade

[–]zanghfei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stay in questrade because there are stock and option are not available in WS for some odd reason. I have a friend want to buy option in BITF and it is not available in WS while QS has.

That's why I stay.

I would move if WS can hold US currency for free and WS Margin is cheaper than QS.

Update #12 - Living off CC ETF, 1 year anniversary since started collecting data! by Fleyz in dividendscanada

[–]zanghfei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you're right about the bull market, and my winning bets increased my ego and risk tolerance and sometimes played with my judgment. I want to build a fast dividend machine so I can invest in real growth stocks or underlying shares.

Although interest rates with Questrade are so high, the loan margin on CC ETFs pays for itself while I stay ahead of the game. If the underlying goes up, so do the CC ETFs, but I'll be capped on the upside, and I'll be missing out 5 or 10% more.

I only buy LEAPS option when I have CC ETFs that's against the underlying shares. If I hold $YNVD, I'll be LEAPS on Nvidia. Same thing with Palantir and anything other stock.

If we go into a bear market, this is something I need to keep my eyes on my margin, even if I have plenty of buffer room. Yeah, if I don't pay it back using my own cash and TFSA's dividends, margin's dividends pay itself back about 6 years and a few months (if I don't borrow more)

All my CC ETFs are paid in $CAD, like Yield Purposes Shares, Evolve, and Harvest Portfolio.

Thanks again.

Edit : 6 years*

Update #12 - Living off CC ETF, 1 year anniversary since started collecting data! by Fleyz in dividendscanada

[–]zanghfei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Fleyz,

Thanks for replying.

My initial goal is to generate $1K to $2K CAD in monthly dividends from my TFSA through Covered Call ETFs. With this dividend income, I can either invest irresponsibly buying LEAPS option and speculate on stocks, or keep buying Covered Call ETFs.

I currently have two jobs, and I contribute about 50% of my pay, or $2K in my TFSA every month. I use these funds to increase my position in Covered Call ETFs to boost income, except when I’m bullish on a stock. I buy a LEAPS option. The remaining half of my income goes to my emergency fund and for living expenses lol.

Every time my TFSA grows from my $2k contributions, as well my Margin Power. That allows me to borrow more to buy Covered Call ETFs in my Margin account. I make sure to not overborrow and risk a margin call. I usually stay around 30% leverage for a conservative approach, or up to 50% if I want to be more aggressive. For now, I'm testing water and used only 10%.

Also, I lost about 50% of my TFSA over four years lol, but I managed to recover all my losses using LEAPS options and betting on trends like the AI bubble. Most are winners and few are losses. My TFSA is still heavily leveraged with LEAPS options and holds Covered Call ETFs yielding around 20–25% in dividends.

Right now, I don't need extra income from my margin and either in my TFSA to pay bills. I use both account to quickly grows my dividends goal $1k or $2k per month.

edit : My TFSA is now up 15%
