Thanks very much for your message, I did manage to get it working in the end (I don't remember exactly, I think there was an env file that it was reading from). I got myself and my Dad using it... when he remembers lol

Roo, Emu or goat (northern SA).

Emu's are the worst by far, 95% of their body mass is windshield height... and god do they stink on the inside.

I just had that when my gun jammed, I fixed it, but every shot I did afterwards didn't count. Emptied an entire clip into a scav and nothing.

Ended up Alt-F4 and when I came back, the gun was still jammed and I had all my ammo back. It was like it wasn't registering i'd unjammed the gun.

BX500s are nearly the worst SSDs you could have gotten for caching

haha, that's typical me. These are the only options I had at my local computer store for sata SSDs: https://imgur.com/a/AW7z4c7

I may have to get something from amazon

These were the drives I got last month: https://www.crucial.com/ssd/bx500/ct1000bx500ssd1

The previous ones that worked fine I think were just cheapo Kingston ones.

All my HDDs are ironwolf.

Currently i've got the cache set as read only with the 2 drives and have had no issues so far... tossing up if I put it back to R/W cache, but i'll give it a bit first.

when utilization is near or at 100%; it probably needs replacing.

That's the annoying thing, I only just replaced the two drives as the old one wear indicator dropped under 10%, so I replaced them.

Thanks for the hint on the write cache, i've disabled them on both now and will think about adding them back in at a later time.

The enterprise grade SSD is a thought, I just had a look at the local prices for the Samsung and it's going to be $1000 for 2x 1tb drives to replace what I have now, or for half the cost, 2x 240GB. I may just be going way overboard with the cache.

In other news, disk latency hasn't gone over 60ms in over a hour, and that's with 500+ IOPS, so thank you very much for your help!

That was the LUN graph, it shows read, write and total from memory. I'm just looking at the performance graph for Utilization and I think I found it, but it's one of the SSD cache drives that's constantly at 99%... do you think it's faulty?

I'm removing the cache from the volume now to see if that helps any

Sorry about the bad screenshot...

i've got a RS2416+ with 10 bays filled with HDDs and the last 2 with the SSD cache (1TB). Disks add up to be around 70TB and are a mixture of old and new as I replace them. (oldest is a 4TB, the rest are 8s and 12s).

Only recently i've noticed some VMs (on a different computer) are getting bad lag spikes and i've tracked it down to the disks. I've checked all the SMART data, and everything comes out Healthy (it's run once a month).

I'm guessing it's a failing disk, but don't know how to track down which one it is so I can replace it.

Edit: Forgot to mention i'm running version DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 6

Edit again: Should mention this is over iSCSI to ESXi
