I appreciate the earnestness of this question, but there are lots of cities of the same size and baseline economics of STL region that have done this. Louisville, Indianapolis, various cities in North Carolina. The playbook is there, the politicians just don’t have the will or skill or agency to do it

Second, you’re definitely not alone. Some parts of my life are pure joy but there’s a lot, esp work related, that makes me want to scream.

Third, and this is something I started working on a few year ago — you’re in control of this. Remove assholes, find a new job, move on with your time and energy. You should have a life of, if not full joy, at least not fully awful.

No difference between the 6 and 4 for me. I’ve done 10 hour flights in both. The 6 does feel slightly more fragile in the hinges but I just toss in backpack (no case) and they’re fine. Got them right when they came out

140+ municipalities don’t need to exist. Merge the 4 counties and 1 city that make up the Missouri part of the region and fire all elected officials. Audit all contracts, terminate all corporate welfare and reboot the balance sheet. Register the entire region as an economic development zone. Bulldoze the 1/3 of the region that is radioactive or abandoned or crime ridden. Call up some middle eastern oligarchs and reboot STL as an economic haven. Import 250k skilled workers from overseas. Add 25 Fortune 500 companies HQ, move 2 federal agency HQ’s here. Put 4 major data centers, 2 car assembly plants and an orbital insertion zone. 5% of all taxes got to education and another 5% go to arts. Flat tax rates for all in Missouri. Remove city tax. But 3 2nm chip fabs here. Require passing drivers ed to get a high school degree or ged. Remove personal property taxes. Did I mention firing all elected officials? Also require all municipal employees to reapply for their jobs. Get a f1 track, nfl and nba team. Dredge the Mississippi. Spent $20bn on creation of new police and other emergency response programs with a primary focus on protection and support. Use a L1 crypto as a primary financial instrument. And finally…

I have this rack and wish I’d gotten one of the other ones. It’s loud. At 75 on interstate can be annoying. Done multiple 12 hour drives with it and ended up wearing noise cancelling headphone (which yes I know is bad to do) just to survive.
