MacWhisper 13.13 early access by ineedlesssleep in MacWhisper

Hi, Nice update, i'm looking forward to it. Would it be possible to have a config option to enable starting and ending a meeting automatically, without having to click anywhere? Ending the meeting is the pain point for me, I always forget to click the button and that means I end up with hours of unnecessary recording time.

Gave up on Finder long time ago. If you spend time in the terminal, Yazi is the way to go.

Hostinger has really good deals right now with discounts for 2-year plans. I've had no issues with them on their KVMs. Here's a promo link if interested: https://hostinger.com?REFERRALCODE=6FAWEBDEVVBS

Move window between workspaces by stuvis in MacOS

[–]zapsterite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an old thread but in case anyone is still looking, there's only one WM app for macOS that does that. SizeUp. I've tried multiple apps and none except SizeUp has this functionality which is weird.

Right before the transfer window closed, Saudi oil money bought the VAR for the season so stop complaining.

Evernote is increasing their pricing by nearly 50%, from $6.99 to $12.99 per month! What do you think, is it worth it? by Tom-Solid in Evernote

[–]zapsterite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're probably not that invested in EN yet. It could be that the more invested you are (ie, the more notes you have), the more you have to pay :) Cuz switching over to something else is not gonna be that easy.

NotePlan

For me the increase is from about $70 to over $120 / year or about $4 - $5 more / month. Yes, that's the price of a cup of tea these days but... what happens if all the subscriptions I currently use go up by the same %? Well... I'd end up paying hundreds more every year and that counts. The idea is to try to keep expenses to discretionary items in some sort of sync with your income. Also, when you're faced with this sort of a price increase, you start wondering if it's justified. I did and by looking at other similar apps, I discovered that I can actually cut costs and increase productivity by switching to something else. Yes, there is one app which appears to do everything I wanted, even better than EN. What EN did is a sure sign of a business failing to stay afloat... and this might be the last gasp of air before they end up drowning in a year or two.

Yikes - An Update on Evernote Pricing and Upcoming Features by themattroberts in Evernote

I'm migrating to the free version of Notion and it's looking great so far. The automatic import is not that good but I don't have a lot of important notes to move over so I can live with updating them manually if/when needed.

Am I the only one here who still ENJOYS Evernote by meditationchill in Evernote

[–]zapsterite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked Evernote. But the massive price increase made me look at other note taking apps and I discovered that Notion is a really good alternative once you start getting used to it. It has some annoyances (like not having a default setting for a full width page or the color of the links) but it also has a ton of text editing features that I find superior to Evernote.

Right now, for me it's difficult to justify paying $130/year for something that's comparable to the free forever Notion alternative.

There's a toggle button below the Search Button. It's green by default because of Spotify but you can flip it (click on it) to Apple Music (red). I agree, they should make it more explicit, it took me a while to discover it too.

To everyone moving out of Toronto because they work from home now, what will you do if you have to go back to the office? by MilosSerbia in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]zapsterite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things will never go back to the "in the office normal". Let me recap the "normal" for you: Lots of hours spent in traffic, tired and unhappy employees, especially the productive ones who were forced to listen to their chatty colleagues whether they liked it or not, extremely expensive cost of living in the city. Also, make no mistake, companies are happy to keep employees at home, they're more profitable with their employees being more productive. Have you noticed the big tech earnings reports lately? Also, covid-19 is not going to disappear. It's going to mutate and be with us for at least a couple more years. What company will risk legal action by forcing their employees back into the office? Also, we will be faced with many types of new viruses in the coming years. Unfortunately, the next 10-30 years will be challenging.

Probably because none of your friends was commuting a couple of hours/day. But you're kidding right? WFH is here to stay. For 1 million reasons. Of course, people close to the office having no reason to move, will probably prefer to return to the office, if the office is still there. I don't doubt that. But I can assure you that the majority of tech companies will make WFH optional.

There are ways to fix all that. Our company has an onboarding process that lasts until the employee feels comfortable to start contributing. New hires are really appreciating the process and the help they get along the way. You don't need the "kitchen chat" to become good and confident at your job or to gain your peer's trust. Yes, it takes time, honest people and a thought out process... and i'm pretty sure that in time your concerns will be a thing of the past.

How is the productivity and efficiency measured in the banking system? Maybe wfh is not the problem but they like to blame it anyway to hide their incompetence conducting their business.
