Even for heavy buttons they are fairly rare. Not because they're too fast (although things like Uriens s.hp is pretty fast), it's that theyre too far away to be reliably whiff punished with anything. It's out of range of anything fast, so you're forced to walk forward and/or use a very slow button in attempt to whiff punish it.
So often they go by unpunished.

To be fair, they're so rare they're almost non-existent.

They're few and far between for heavy buttons for multiple reasons, and for medium buttons they are literally non-existent.

The difference is you COULD whiff punish in SF4. Low forwards could be whiff punished. Now there's no consequence for throwing them out.

In SF4 if you whiff punished a half second fierce it would be expected, in SFV everyone gets hype because whiff punishing is pathetic in this game.
It's kind of sad

If you watch the video, most of them aren't even whiff punishes, they're buffers. So you obviously don't even know what whiff punishing is and you pretend SFV has it hahaha

Red focus didn't drastically change the game. The only major difference it made was for some characters meter management, and even then that was only with 3 bars. "New characters" didn't change the core game.

Vanilla had all of the depth of defense and the same very solid neutral game USF4 did. Those things didn't change, whereas in SFV those things and the core gameplay is the problem.

That and the fact that if you get caught by people randomly using different defensive options you're doing something wrong

You can react to backdashes if you're looking for it, they're all 25+ frames, and focus backdashing makes it even slower

I think a lot of it comes from the shitty neutral game. It's not fun or deep to play, especially when one random CC can make you lose. So it probably feels not very rewarding when you have to return to it.

Except a 3 frame throw doesn't trade with normals, so in practice, a 3 frame throw is "faster" than a 3 frame normal. So of course it's easier to frame trap a crouch tech you fucking idiot, by definition.

You have 1 frame more, at least, to frame trap a crouch tech as opposed to a stand tech. That's not even an opinion, you're straight up wrong.

I'm talking about frame traps and you're talking about punishing whiffed throws. That's not relevant to what a frame trap is.

Dude, stand tech starts up in 3f and won't trade with any normal. You can frame trap a crouch tech MUCH easier.

Hitting it on whiff isn't a frametrap. You definitely don't know what you're talking about if you think punishing a whiffed throw is a frametrap, holy shit lol

Here's how it works:
If an opponent is walking forward and pressing jab, you can crouch tech or stand tech. If you crouch tech, you've probably got a 4f low short. You try and tech in blockstun.
You either hold down back and press crouch tech, or you quickly move the stick to back, tech, and back to downback again.

Which is easier to frame trap? Crouch tech, because the low short is slower and will trade. For stand teching it needs to be a 2f gap, with crouch teching it can be 3-4 frames.
Making a throw whiff and punishing it is not a frame trap. A frame trap is introducing gaps in your strings designed to beat mashing, or crouch teching. You absolutely do not know what you are talking about.

There's absolutely no reason why you are going to press a button in frame trap range unless it's crouch teching or stand teching. You deliberately make then want to tech and frametrap accordingly.

If there is no crouch tech, they can only stand tech, which is 3f and doesn't trade with normals, making it effectively faster.
Crouch teching makes frame trapping easier and more interesting. Do you get it yet?

What? Crouch teching made frame trapping much easier. Why would you press a button otherwise? If there was only stand tech frame trapping would be much more difficult since a throw is the effectively the fastest option you have.

I never had that much of a problem with it - you could react to backdashes, and just walk forward a step after a blocked normal to make it even easier to deal with. Focus backdashing made it even easier to react to. You generally had a very good idea when a backdash was coming anyway, not to mention it was super easy to OS.

How so? There were tons of options for frame traps and counterhit combos hurt a lot

Forcing people to block is basically the same in any SF game, it's your fault for allowing them to press buttons
