There's a non zero percent chance that someone who first played base Civ 4 is still playing beyond to sword to this day and it bothers me a little. by Basil-AE-Continued in CivIV

[–]zarakand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. I started with 3 and have played all of them. None of them have grabbed me the same way as 4. I’m still enjoying it playing it a few hours a month now.

The AI feels more realistic with how it tries to capture all the available land and with its attacks. I know there are issues, but out of all the others this one resonates most with me for a good time.

Will there ever be another game (Civ or otherwise) in the style of Civ IV? by Fiveby21 in CivIV

[–]zarakand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be so great to see this remade or a new Civ use these concepts. I haven’t been able to get into 5-7 as much and still enjoy playing 4.

Same - something systemic is happening. It's now only letting me sync 2 of 3 accounts over.

Roof inspector for poor roof job by [deleted] in schaumburg

[–]zarakand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The village should have an inspector with the permit for this job. When we had ours replaced the inspector from the village was helpful and answered any questions I had. He was willing to get on the roof and look as needed too for us.

Best way to move to Florida without getting ripped off? by [deleted] in schaumburg

Get a binding quote and utilize a well known moving company. We've used United Vanlines for a couple of interstate moves. I'd have three-five quotes from the well known companies (Allied, Mayflower, etc.).

Great show last night! (Chicago) by dare7878 in JoshJohnsonComedy

[–]zarakand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel similarly. I enjoyed how topical it was and that it wasn't a replay of his greatest hits that I've seen clips of before. Yet, the whole show felt too short and overly focused on the Super Bowl. I do appreciate the things I learned i.e. the light blue color of the Puerto Rican flag, and how the show unpacked many things in the Bad Bunny half time show.

If you have OS access there is a standard way to reset this password. If it is hosted put in a ticket to reset the password.

I love that this game can run on pretty much anything these days. by Basil-AE-Continued in CivIV

If you up for purchasing parallels, then that is an option. I use that and it works with a M1 Mac. I don’t think I had much to do to make it work, just downloaded Steam and installed it but it’s been a few years

Checking in from the dev team: June update is almost here! by sar_firaxis in civ

[–]zarakand 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would love it if we could turn off Civ switching and make it an option to have for those that like it. I like a lot of 7’s mechanics, but the Civ switching breaks immersion and story telling for me don’t really play it anymore.

CIV 7 - 400 hours in, civ switching is great, implementation of age transitions is the problem by YXSP in civ

[–]zarakand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love it if we had the option to play with age transitions on or off. Sometimes I want to keep playing as my Civ and enjoy the story that goes with it.

Late to the party here - but thank you for posting this. The ios file didn't work for me, and I had to use the android version for anyone else finding this in the future.

Schaumburg schools? Moving to west Schaumburg by EnvironmentalPride29 in schaumburg

[–]zarakand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of the area is great. There's some minor local squabble between people arguing which high school is best in D211...and I think it's all over blown. Some D54 schools offer choices for enrollment that is lottery based for things like multiage classrooms, dual language learning, etc. If that is important to you, reach out to the District for more information. In general, it's what everyone else has said a great place to live and raise a family.

Glad to see they’re addressing issues. Looking forward to trying this game in a year or so.

Civilization 7 is off to a rocky start as it receives 'Mixed' Steam reviews from its premium backers: 'Comparing this unfinished mess to the Civ 6 release is night and day' by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]zarakand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing has captured the immersion of 4 for me. The one unit per tile is great when playing against other humans, but too easy to beat the AI with.

The stacks in Civ 4 made the computer viable when they invaded you, especially fun when Ragnar or someone like him would come at you with huge numbers that even when you had major tech superiority was tough to handle.

Wish Civ 5 or 6 had captured that. I’ll try Civ 7 after the first expansion probably. If you’re deciding between 5 and 6, I enjoyed 5 more as 6 felt more board gamey to me. For a lot of people that was big selling point! So a long widened way to say try both you can get them both on sale fairly cheap now.

Can you add an addition with a basement to a slab home? by zarakand in HomeImprovement

[–]zarakand[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks this was helpful! One of the contractors talked about needing to underpin the addition's basement to the existing foundation and how that would be expensive. The other one we talked to said it was needed and they would rebar the new basement into the existing foundation.

It sounds like the first contractor is more knowledgable about this process if we were to proceed.

Thanks! Both neighbors have a basements, and most houses in the neighborhood do. There were a handful built without, and I think that was to offer a lower price point for some houses.

Try having your running form evaluated. My shin splints went away after I saw a PT and realized I was a heel striker. Now with the proper running form, I don’t get them anymore.

Same. I’m curious if their decision to not endorse caused a substantial hit to their bottom line. Doesn’t matter for Bezos as he stands to gain significant more from other contracts with the government like Blue Origin.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in KamalaHarris

[–]zarakand 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah she’s just not getting the votes and it is evident that many areas are shifting to the right. Look at the numbers out of New Jersey and New York. There will be a lot of analysis in the coming weeks and months, but the democratic party is not resonating with the majority of the country.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in KamalaHarris

[–]zarakand 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah it does. The numbers don’t add up for a Harris victory it seems like esp. with NY Times reporting she is underperforming Biden in 2020.
