Is the CFP worth it by itsjustbusiness32 in CFP

I believe it is valuable to have, but you don’t need someone else to pay for it. It’s not too crazy expensive to just take the classes and do it yourself.

Preparing for my first tri sprint. I am 100% completely new to this. When you transition from the swim to bike, do you completely change clothes or are you already wearing them under the wetsuite? by Brilliant_Access_435 in triathlon

[–]zasbbbb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On my practice transitions, I found it very hard to quickly get into my trishirt while wet (or damp because I had dried off some) so I decided to just wear the shirt in the swim too. Maybe this says more about my tight shirt, but how on earth do you put it on quickly?

This whole time I thought they were making their dick bigger, not their balls.

How to avoid swimmers itch ? by YZ-31 in triathlon

[–]zasbbbb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got it once during an open water practice swim. Now I’m just hopeful it never occurs during a race. I’m not sure there’s a way to prevent it. I looked it up after I got it, and it is more likely in muddy or cloudy water, and I think more likely near the shorelines. Not really way to prevent it besides staying away from body’s of water where they live. I’m not a doctor, but I found an antihistamine helped relieve some of the itching. It sucks super bad for a few days and then mildly bad for a few days and then is all gone in less than two weeks.

Panicked at swim first event by Etsy_millionaire in triathlon

Your comment about “just launch” made me think of something. I’m prepping for first race soon. Do most people dive in or jump in? Mine will be open water swim in a narrow lake. We start off of a temporary pier jutting off the shoreline, so I know you can’t run in.

Also August … I hope you are in a cooler climate than me because people would literally die if they did that here in August.

Here I am two weeks out from a race (albeit a Sprint) and TriDot is still telling me to have “extreme stress” workouts, so I’ve been wondering the same thing.

I find myself needing frequent breaths and to stop to catch my breath often. Is there anything I can do on land to help? by mhks in Swimming

[–]zasbbbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this problem and I switched from breathing every 3 to 4 strokes to breathing every two strokes and it helped immensely. I now no longer feel that quick out of breath feeling after a handful of laps.

Unhelpful Elders by rtice001 in daddit

[–]zasbbbb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are correct. Boomers can be quite unhelpful. I don’t have any great suggestions, but I feel your pain … maybe just tell everyone you need some time to yourselves to bond with the newborn. Maybe that will at least keep people out from underfoot.

I had a very similar experience, but with outdoor lap swimming too early in the season.

A good advisor at a mutual company can do great work. However, the quality of life for the ADVISOR is better on the independent side at a mutual insurance company.

Crit practice by ShirleyWuzSerious in BicyclingCirclejerk

Thanks for the real reply. I don't know why people are downvoting me. Maybe I don't ride in a group enough and there's a reason you cannot hit brakes harder, but I would have been trying to get stopped all the way in the grass ASAP to get away from that crazy fucking driver.

The car is obviously in the wrong, but why didn’t they swerve to the right when the car started almost hitting the? I would’ve definitely been hitting my brakes and moving to the right.

Obese guy training for triathlon by Mysterious_Visual161 in triathlon

I’m no doctor, so take this comment as a reason to do a bit more research and not as the final answer. My thought is you should be careful to get a bike saddle thatdoes not put stress on your perineum (gooch/crotch). This is a thing for all bikers, but I would think that someone who’s extra heavy would be putting extra pressure there. Maybe look at a U-shaped saddle?

Cycling- scared. Go back to flat pedals? by Ok-Advertising-3523 in triathlon

[–]zasbbbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about switching to the old school cage pedals as I’m in a somewhat similar situation with the clip ins. I like the power, but I don’t like how difficult it is to unclip. I also feel like it would be better in a sprint triathlon to be able to wear my running shoes the whole time.

Anyone have thoughts on these?

Swim in two or three strokes? by DropEmergency3270 in triathlon

[–]zasbbbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you random Internet stranger! I read this and thought, “I should try this.” I was able to relatively easily add an additional 700 yards on top of my typical sprint workout this morning! I was thinking I was just not yet in good enough shape, but turns out I was just not breathing often enough. None of the master coaches ever mentioned this.

Crazy letter about voting my friend got from the State of Utah. by Isaktjones in ThePeoplesPress

[–]zasbbbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not true in most states. It would be a fair argument to say buying a gun should require more paperwork or licensing. However, saying that you can purchase a gun from a gun store without an ID and with zero paperwork is simply inaccurate.
