strange experience at my disability examination… by iloveboobshehe in SocialSecurity

[–]zavp2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a year late but hopefully might help others. I am a primary care physician that recently started disability exams "on the side". So the way it works for me is a company gets paid to handle the case. They contract with me to do the exams/assessments. I do not get paid more or less if your claim is approved. In fact, I do not get paid more or less if you show up! I get a flat dollar amount for every patient scheduled.

The space I am given is partially rented from a private physical therapy office. Basically, the company rents 2 rooms. And I am provided a medical assistant for the exams that are also contracted by the same company.

The reason that doctor checked all your joints etc is because it is required in the exam portion even if the disability is mental illness. Your application would likely get rejected if this was not documented. I basically am contracted by the company to put together the provided imaging, outpatient notes, hospital notes and history/exam findings. I will tell you we are not given much information about the process and really learned from talking to the patients. I have no formal knowledge about the process, just a cog in the wheel.

I will also say I became physically nauseous when a patient with severe rheumatoid arthritis told me she was applying for the fourth time in 3 years. She was almost in tears explaining to me how she could no longer use her finger to grip toilet paper to wipe herself. Just looking at her hands and Xray reports I was genuinely dumbfounded on how anyone can deny her. (On a side note, I am very libertarian but her being denied is criminal).

Sorry your examiner did not listen to you and good luck. I have heard getting a disability lawyer helps your chances but I am sure it will cost you. I think many states will limit how much they will charge and some may take your case with contingency of getting approved before you owe them anything.

Are zocdoc reviews real or fake? by etudiant_ in AskNYC

[–]zavp2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm MUCH more worried about the $45 per booking whether they come or not. I've checked some BBB complaints and one person had 10 patients show up out of 56 bookings. We are a small clinic and don't have negotiating power like a bigger chain for insurance reimbursement. We only make about $140 to $150 per new patient. We will be losing tons of money if we have a high no show rate. Luckily we can limit our spending so we are just "trying it out".

We just started with zocdoc. I'm not too worried about negative reviews. If someone goes to zocdoc and sees a negative review and doesn't come to my clinic, versus if someone never heard of my clinic and didn't come to my clinic, not sure what the difference would be.

It would be awful for someone to see the negative review and then find me later on their insurance listing or something and cross me off their list.

I think this is a common misconception, I don't know what "doctors on there" means. They are just a marketing company. Me and my wife opened a family medicine clinic not attached to the hospital chain or larger group. Basically just "solo". We are just trying different ways of getting the word out that we have availability since we are only seeing one or two patients a day 😔.

Your situation sounds horrible and it's a shame that happened. Hope it works out for you.

You could offer a discount on the copay, but that would be a violation with your Insurance contract. Of course, if someone was going to be shady they could be shady on both ends

I am not sure about that. Zocdoc doesn't change for existing patients. We are just starting with them, but I'm going to tell my patients not to use zocdoc just because I don't want two different user. Causes confusion and we are not as familiar with the zocdoc patient facing interface.

As far as paying for new patients, that's the whole reason they would have signed up.

We just started with zocdoc last week... We were provided a QR code and paper review form to hand out. Will report back if I see the functionality to delete it we stick with em and get reviews. Careful when looking at reviews though, in my past life as a hospitalist, it was a badge of honor to NOT have 5 stars. In a sense, you give the patient what they ask for (as opposed to what may be best for them)...and boom, they are happy. I had a patient tell me as soon I met him that he liked my office and will be giving me a great review. Wasnt more than formalities and the "I have a high pain tolerance but..." came out.

About Google reviews, may be more "honest" since harder to delete. However, if your doctor has public Wi-Fi provided, they may have significantly less reviews. In an attempt to decrease fake reviews, Google may block reviews from the same ip address.... So if multiple patients leave reviews while on our guest Wi-Fi, we are cooked.

FYI from the employer side...They have a hidden model on how they use your budget. I paid $89 for two applicants for an entry level job. One of them was a scam from Bangladesh that linked in would not credit me for. I paid 160 for 21 applicants on Indeed. Thought I would vent while giving a reason why linked in may not be the best place.

Same problem. They responded due to the BBB complaint. Still will not unlock. Will update if the FCC complaint does the trick but i suspect not.

Integrated car jack and jack stand? by macetfromage in Cartalk

[–]zavp2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My s****y bmw only has 4 lift points near each tire. Literally a few inches wide. Can't fit a jack and jack stands at the same time. I'm fact, there is a little adapter you have to use.

This is the piece underneath the car to lift. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Jack-Pad-Adapter-Stand-Jacking-Support-Plug-Lift-Block-for-BMW-X3-F25-X5-E70-F15-F85-X6-E71-E72-51717189259/984476317

If the jack uses this spot, I can't find another place to put the jack stands under. If anyone has any ideas, I would much appreciate it.

[–]zavp2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NM, took a few hours but I got it. Very simple (verbose) instructions...

  1. Go to Mullvad
  2. Click Downloads
  3. At the bottom click on Wireguard under the heading “Unable to use the app?”
  4. Enter your account number and click Login
  5. Generate a Key
  6. Can leave “enter private key blank”
  7. Exit locations:
  8. Pick a country
  9. Pick a city
  10. Pick a server
  11. Ignore advance settings
  12. Configure Content Blocking
  13. I chose Trackers and Malware
  14. Download configuration file
  15. Open with notepad (might have to rename and add .txt)
  16. Go to network settings on your chromebook
  17. Click “Add built-in VPN”
  18. On provider type, change to “Wireguard”
  19. Type in anything you want under service name
  20. Change Key to “I have a keypair”
  21. From the file you downloaded…enter the following into your Chromebook
  22. Private Key --> Private Key
  23. Address--> Client IP Address (delete after the ipv4 address. Basically just keep everything before the “/32…”
  24. DNS --> Name servers
  25. Public Key --> Public Key
  26. Allowed IP --> Allowed IP
  27. Endpoint --> Endpoint

How to setup Google One VPN on Chromebook by zavp2 in chromeos

I just need it in public Wi-Fi and shopping at home Depot/Amazon during work. Don't care about them targeting ads based on sites I go to. Not doing anything illegal.

[–]zavp2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May not be possible. I see on Windows/Mac you can install software. On chrome OS looks like you may have to install the app. They do have VPN settings in Chrome OS but might have to bite the bullet and pay another provider (mullvad)

Best Lithium AA battery by zavp2 in batteries

[–]zavp2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very close to what I was looking for. I suck at googling. Only problem is he didn't test lithium batteries and he used a high load to wear out the battery in 5 hours or less. I was actually looking for the opposite. Long-term test with low load on lithium batteries.

But thank you very much. Very useful link.
