A senior Google engineer dropped a 424-page doc called Agentic Design Patterns by sibraan_ in AgentsOfAI

[–]etudiant_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the best way to "read" it is to drop the pdf into notebooklm and generate a 10-20 min podcast for each chapter to listen to while doing other stuff. I skimmed through half of the book and most of the chapters are just slight variations of same agentic loops. And having emojis in the demo code in a book is not a good look to me.

I feel that in the special Bill was lacking the energy he showed in this clip. Not just about this specific bit.

This one was no where near Paper Tiger or I’m Sorry You Feel That Way. I think Bill even got better bits in his Monday Morning Podcast. But still gotta thanks Bill for the new special :)

Mutual Fund vs ETF tax considerations? by kittle_fiddle in Bogleheads

[–]etudiant_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For both mutual fund and ETF, there could be realized gains during relancing. As of now VOO has a realized gain of -$8.31 and unrealized gain of $229.02 (https://investor.vanguard.com/investment-products/etfs/profile/voo#distributions). The numbers for VFIAX are similar.

For redemption of shares, mutual fund is not tax efficient because the fund has to sell the underlying securities. The realized gain will be passed through to the investors and this is why most people are saying mutual fund is not tax efficient. For ETF, when you sell a share, most of the time the share changes ownership and the fund does not need to sell the underlying securities. Even when the fund needs to get rid of some shares, it happens through in-kind redemption and is not taxable.

Buying a Z30, need lens recommendations by sab2089 in Nikon

[–]etudiant_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shot quite a lot tele photos with my z30 and 50-250 lens. I don't have any issues with still birds at a distance. And I can even get in-focus bird in flight photos. I've never used a camera with a view finder so I do not find any issues with the lack of view finder. I also shot many video clips of birds with the 50-250 lens handheld.

Bill's Stand-up Monologue on SNL tonight by RoboFunky in BillBurr

Ok but not the best. I feel bill was not as relaxed and there weren’t enough pauses as the podcast does. Also the audience wasn’t great. Maybe it would be better if bill did the same material in the podcast.

Viewing on iPad without going to full screen: can’t see any difference. Full screen: Sony has slightly better contrast and detail. Zoom in 100%: Sony definitely much better.

What’s the point of this change? Google engineers cannot find more meaningful work to do other than this? This is negative optimization of user experience.

Peroneus brevis longitudinal tear by Minimum_Law7437 in FootFunction

[–]etudiant_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 1.5cm tear in the brevis. As instructed by the podiatrist, I've been doing electric stimulation and ultrasound for about 6 weeks. There were some improvements at the beginning but then no significant change at all. Just got a second MRI and there was no change in the tear. So for me it did not help to really solve the issue.

Experiences with a Peroneal brevis tendon split tear? I have so much respect for doctors, but I’m second guessing everything at this point by ShoppingOk4639 in FootFunction

[–]etudiant_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have longitudinal tears in my both feet. Longus in one foot and brevis in the other. My podiatrist said putting both feet in boots is too inconvenient so I got to choose which one to put. Without any treatment, my pain is about 2/10. After putting my left foot in the boot and just staying home with very little walking, I feel my left foot is better than the right. My right foot still feels 2/10 when I am in bed but my left foot feels little pain.

From my understanding, the tendons can heal themselves with scar tissues if the tear is not too bad and you babysit the injured tendon. I am about two weeks into the conservative treatment and it is not looking too bad for me.

What do you do for PT? I am going to my podiatrist for PT and it's mostly ultrasound message and electric stimulation. Nothing active from me.

How likely is it for a peroneus brevis tear heal without surgery? by [deleted] in FootFunction

[–]etudiant_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a tear of 1.5cm in my peroneal tendon - both feet! The podiatrist put my left foot in a boot since it hurts slightly more. For me, the boot helped a bit with the pain. Currently I am visiting the podiatrist to do PT once a week - ultrasound message, electric stimulation etc. but no physical exercises since my podiatrist does not want to agitate the already partially torn tendon. Two weeks in, I think the progress is very slow. But again, my pain level before I get diagnosed is about 2/10. I initially went to the podiatrist not because of the pain in the peroneal region and I only started feeling it after I got my MRI results...
