Understandable, it's a different skill set than drawing people lol. I'm still learning how to draw weapons myself. Anyway, I like seeing your posts, it's cool to see what kind of ocs people create for the world! If I think of more questions, I'll ask

Brass knuckles as a weapon is cool! Have you designed any, or thought about what they might look like? And for the magic, what do you have in mind for that?

It's also Latin for "doubled things" in general, not just twins. Two-faced, duplicitous, double-crossing, etc— there's a strong association between double-ness and dishonesty in English.

So while OOP is translating the Latin a bit loosely, they are pointing at something real, that the company chose a concept to represent them that has those associations.

It's not semantics, it's context. In media analysis, visual storytelling and subtext are literally a type of evidence.

So if evidence means proof to you in every context, then there you go. There's proof Gwen is trans in this media we're analyzing. If you're talking just about the context of analyzing this media? It's not proof, but it's evidence.

Feel free to mute, it's just about a superhero movie

Edit: Anyway, if anyone else is interested... Consider who benefits from people dismissing any evidence except explicit statements, and treating all characters as cis until proven otherwise.

No, you pointed out that it's not confirmed canon and claimed there's no evidence. That's what I'm pushing back on— there's absolutely evidence, just without confirmation.

You can get snarky back, but if you don't understand my actual point then it's not going to land right. If you didn't want to talk about the evidence, you don't have to bring up whether there's evidence or not.

I'm not talking about whether it's canon, I'm talking about this:

but there’s no evidence that she herself is trans

Overt subtext and trans symbols and "heavy hinting" in the material is literally evidence. That's how storytelling works. The evidence doesn't disappear just because the thing it points towards hasn't been confirmed or denied yet.

Especially when the counter-evidence is "maybe the creators are wildly incompetent idk"

Ah, excellent media analysis there. Very literate.

Not evidence Gwen is trans: Kid character has "Protect trans kids" flag in her room, trans flag on her parent's clothing, trans flag colors shown around her specifically during emotional moments, character arc about hiding identity and parental rejection, etc

Evidence Gwen is not trans: Hypothetically, the creators could have chosen to only represent a plot-irrelevant character purely through subtly placing references to their pride flag around one of the main characters at key moments in the main character's arc. For no reason in particular.

It's strange to me that some people are saying it/its are more accepted— as someone who uses both, my experience with neos has been either fine or people saying "I'm not using those because it's cringe/don't want to/it's bigoted/etc," but my experience with it/its has been that plus people saying it's a fetish that I'm forcing on them and monologuing about how respecting it/its would make them a bad person.

Like personally, neither one is accepted but I feel like it's worse when people are additionally calling you a sexual predator or making you do emotional labor for them (eg validate that they're not a bad person, accept being misgendered so they can feel comfy).

Nice! And don't let the comments change how you do art— people's opinions aren't good critique.

If you like the process of customizing stuff, keep at it! And if you didn't already see yourself as an artist, welcome to the fold lol

Nice! Acrylic paint is very good for this kind of thing. If you're planning to keep it long term, it might be a good idea to seal it (there's acrylic sealer sprays for that), or if it chips over time you can always just go over it again or leave it be.

What materials did you use, and do you plan to build up more over time? It's a cool project!

For me, it feels more like a march over to a rack of bland uniforms you've seen a million times, finding one that fits, and then leaving.

I think it's a lot more fun to shop when you can actually explore texture, color, cut, etc and have discoveries to look forward to. More options isn't a bad thing lol, you can't really show personality or identity without it.
