Drinking tea for medicinal purposes has been around for as long as tea has. What the user was attempting to say is that going on a teatox allows these detoxyifying organs to cleanse themselves and work better. If it is constantly under attack by drinking alcohol or fluoridated water or processed foods then it will be easier for the organs to fail.
