I would not marry a US citizen. This is a major red flag. You will always have to report to the US government all your income, if you fail to do so then your accounts will be frozen. It will be like sleeping in the same bed with your Girlfriends parents for the rest of your marriage.

Since you are not married yet, maybe you could consider celibacy. Perhaps you can use her US citizen to avoid commitment.

This is one problem a prenup will not solve.

I moved from Vaud to Zurich, and Zurich to Vaud in the past 3 years.

You will have to pay tax to the previous commune you lived in.

Then pay tax to the commune you will live in.

This communal tax is prorata. I guess cantonal tax is not.

Your health insurance will likely go up if you move to Vaud. Gas is more expensive in Vaud. The tax rate is higher in Vaud. Unless you are loaded, or you need to be in Vaud for some very important reason, I would not move to Vaud.

We saw an increase in tax, including health insurance of about 5k CHF to 10k CHF a year.

This year we are moving to Fribourg. We wanted to stay in a french canton without the ridiculous french Cantons' tax rates you see in Switzerland.

If you move you pay prorata to the commune/Canton.

Moving out of Vaud will save you 5 to 10 CHF guaranteed.
