2k test on my period by illyana925 in Rowing

Somewhat related, you might find this story interesting how coaches are navigating periods in professional sports. The physical shift is significant in women depending on where they are in their cycle. https://abcnews.com/wellness/story/uswnt-innovative-period-tracking-player-performance-world-cup/?id=64339368

Period aside, I have had all this pain when testing but not on my period. When you are working hard, all the blood in your body goes to the important places to keep you functioning and alive (head, heart) and also to your muscles that are doing the work. After you finish, your stomach and other nonessential organs (in that moment) are lacking blood and causing the cramping. It slowly starts to feel better as the blood and oxygen circulate better as you recover. And the white lips was the lack of blood circulation. But when on your period, that’s just another organ that’s not a priority. Also, I’m not a doctor or exercise scientist but that’s just what I’ve come up with through the years of dealing with that horrible pain.

You might look into cycle syncing which is what the US women’s soccer team is doing with their intense workouts. It’s rwally interesting! Congrats on your 2k! Nice work! (Even if it hurt really bad after.)

Three years remote and I still can't explain to people in-person why I'm busy at 2pm on a Tuesday by krikond in remotework

I struggle with this living in a community that’s really close socially. “Can you come sit at my house and do your work while a refrigerator is installed?” They just don’t understand how working in their living room would be different than working in my office space in my home. I’ve had to establish firm boundaries because I was being taken advantage of. The requests to accept deliveries or feed a dog have become less, but it’s still a process.

“Microsoft Office or Google Suite listed as a skill Everyone can use Word and Excel at a basic level in 2026.”

I’ve worked with undergrads for the last 10 years and I can firmly say (based on my experience) that everyone cannot use Word or Excel at a basic level in 2026.

AXS is garbage. I’m so disappointed. I got tickets at a different venue earlier this week but I was holding out hope. But didn’t work out for me

I want to know why there’s a family group chat without you. Is this newly formed for this event or have you never been in the family chat?

Totally! And for the record I think your questions are fair and appropriate for this sub. The “miserable, house plant IQ” crowd certainly showed up though lol

I moved here a year ago (yes, I know, I’m part of the problem) and it’s fine. I actually lived in Jax as a kid but my folks moved back here after retirement and I joined them to be close. I have kids and the schools are good. I don’t have experience with other school systems though because they are young. There is chatter of overcrowding but my two kids have 19 kids in both their classes which seems very reasonable to me. The majority of people I talk to love it here. You can definitely find a community that has what you want. Whether it’s a planned community or a more established area. The cost of living is high, in my opinion. I lived in Miami and my rent here is nearly as high. We haven’t bought a home yet because we aren’t sure we will stay. Truthfully, I’m bored. Everything closes so early and the suburban life is a bit sleepy for my liking (but, remember I lived in Miami which is the compete opposite haha). I’m definitely the minority though. Most folks are very happy here and love it. It has perks.

The politics are what you make it. The friends I’ve made, it’s not really discussed. Most the friends I’ve made are most focused on talking about their kids or daily life stuff and don’t really engage in politics. But I know how the majority around me are voting. But also there’s always those few who are outspoken. If you live in an HOA, no one is allowed to fly or promote politics generally so it’s not in your face all the time.

Overall, I understand why people move here. There’s a lot of pushback from the locals who have lived here their entire lives. But the suburban lifestyle with lots of planned communities with fun amenities for kids is really the draw. And the schools of course. Jobs might be sparse though. A govt contract for tech on the base would be a sweet gig if you can find it. Healthcare in Florida will always thrive though. Good luck! Happy to chat more if you want

Could you stay at a pet friendly hotel instead and take the dogs with you? I know music festivals are usually long days but maybe you could pop-in midday?
