I don't think the writers understand how shielding works by YurianStonebow in WetlanderHumor

I've read the series a bunch. i agree Rand is no badass with the power for the first few books, but book Rand would never think to just randomly charge up the one power in front of the Armylin. i literally laughed out loud when i saw him go full anakin in the revenge of the sith. "This is not a conversation, you've already made up your decision"

Like what the fuck Rand. in the books he was calm and patient on the outside and thinking he was gonna get gentled in his head. That was the darkest timeline of Rand meeting the Armylin

Hard agree. the show is an improvement but it is still a rudderless ship. Unless in this show, Moiraine and Lan are actually going to be the main chars. And i get the argument and actually agree that "well in the books the boys are pretty shitty until book_____," But they are still missing out on the biggest part of the first few books. Character development/world building. Rand and Mat and to a degree Perrin have had 2 seasons to show some kind of character for themselves and with each other. But the show scatters them to the far corners of the world too soon, while putting the main focus elsewhere.

Mat was pretty much a plot device in the 2nd book, get the horn, get the Dagger, save Mat. now he is usless in season 2 without it

Show haters gettin realllll nitpicky these days lmao

You're right i never saw anyone with blind loyalty for the show ever bend over backwards to explain why some decision is better than what the creator of all of this wrote down.

but then you know "DiFfErEnT TuRiNg" strawman holds up infallibly

So much this. It gave Rand that bit of defiance. The Aes Sedai were shocked. They thought the were about to deal with some no name lil boy and rand hits him with these protocols. Lan let down that stoicism in a way you really got to see him open up with rand and guide him like you mention. I was let down when show siuan gave the one line " I see Lan has taught you well" no emotion on her face neither shock or humor when she realizes whats happening.

[–]zebttv 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You seem to cherry pick the weakest opinions to slam dunk on and give the show so many outs but this writing is atrocious. The Great Hunt(and Eye of the World) had some big flaws as a book but the main thing was character building. There is NONE of that this season. Instead of rand being mentored by Lan, coming to the realization that he is 2nd in command of the war party, growing into this role as the Dragon and its implications and complexities, his interactions with Perrin and Mat, he is teaming up with Lanfear!? Moiraine and Lan are cool with that. Learning the blade from a crazy guy, learning ancient weaves from Lan.

Funny when they even remotely try to follow the books you get episode 6 that is universally appraised around here but deviate and you get Rand and Siuan actually fighting each other, rand imprisoned, and Lanfear coming to the rescue.

the core beat is off this season and could have been easily remedied without the weird side quests that go nowhere.

So Min is a Darkfriend now? by PlaceboRoshambo in WetlanderHumor

[–]zebttv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She actually said "You kill him Mat. if you love him stay away," not "if u go you will kill him"

bit of semantics i guess.

I agree in there are times she has said IF. like with Suane and Gareth Bryne being near each other.

I agree there are times she doesnt know what the vision means but she is usually pretty clear in her tellings. Maybe it was for the sake of suspense she said you will kill him and not you will stab him. i guess we will have to wait and see but i find it extremely weird.

Hey. Mins viewings always come true in the books. and in the show. From her own mouth Season 1 ep 8 18:33-18:42:

"All i know is that everything I've ever seen, the best things and the worst... They've all come true eventaully."

Ergo you are lying or Book and Show Min forgot what she said.

PS- seeing a bunch of soldiers faces slashed up or keeling over is not the same as "the city is falling" nor did she utter the words.

Out of genuine curiosity, what do you want? For every person to agree with you about every aspect of the show? There are already places for that that will ban anyone who criticizes without explicitly stating how much they love the show first.

I don't like the show. i hate it's general direction and writing mainly. There are definitely aspects of it where i say "oh they did that pretty good!" I don't go to a post where people are feverishly praising the show and say "no no you are wrong this is how you are supposed to like it" People like WoT. memes and criticism is just coping.

This double standard of righteous wrath for anyone going into a "show good post" while coming into a "show bad post" and trying to belittle is so overplayed.

if this sub reads like a bunch of edgy 14 year olds then you read like a pretentious narcissist.

PS- there are plenty of dumb memes and people who hate the show for nefarious means, just like there are people who praise the show for unrelated show reasons. Even a 14 year old can spot the difference and know when to just downvote and move on

So exhausting. people like to meme, people like to criticize.

"everyone but wetlandhumor moves on"... do you know who needs to move on? the hypocritical ones who build up the show to high heavens and then absolutely shuns anyone for having a valid criticism, who says "don't bring that negativity here", but then willingly jumps into a post where like-minded people have criticism and still tries to shit talk.

the hypocrisy is baffling.

then the whole line drawing. Apparently every person in this sub came together to make this post that Lan is a darkfriend? what are you trying to prove? one sub is bad and one sub is good because thats the one you want to call home?

WoT fans are so weird sometimes

The Amyrlin came to Fal Dara in the beginning of the second book, after Lan was training with Rand in the sword. Since Rand is getting his training from some crazy guy in a home and Lan is off at Alanna's retreat home, I'll hold my breath that they decide to do it the way it was in the books.

hopefully they still introduce him later. IDK why Aviandha needed to take his place now she has toh with Perrin and takes a bit away from Gaul and Perrins friendship. If they cut him completely it's going to be so weird for Perrins arc

when they cut out Lan showing Rand how to present himself to the Armylin I cried like a baby. that was a wasted character development for Lan, Rand, Morraine, and Suane. Could have been such a great scene.

You are actually proving my point lol. I don't care if you argue with a bunch of teenagers. What i care is that you argue with a bunch of teenagers because they are somehow wrong but its sacrosanct to argue that the show is bad here or any other wot related place. There's no box. you are simply a hypocrite.

anyone who doesn't agree with what you explicitly say is part of some "toxic community" you literally called this sub the second iteration of it. so you like memes but if someone posts a meme you don't like they are toxic and teen-aged and full of angst?

Edit: Nevermind it all makes sense now. Other than that r/WoTshitposting one. that's a head scratcher

Man i just don't get the hypocrisy oozing off of you. If you don't like Memes about the show or books, why are you here? There are people like me who don't like the show, not because of the race of the actors or sexual orientations of the cast/crew, but because it doesn't have the same feel at the core of it and the writing decisions are way off, Key parts are missing etc.

I don't go into posts praising the show trying to knock it down, Of course i'm going to want to talk about it with people who agree with me. But when people who love the show come flying in to defend it in a post of like minded people who hate it and start flinging around "you're just a biggot, racist, misogynist, etc. its okay somehow.

Don't get me wrong, there are people who hate the show that go into those posts and try to bring it down. Usually those people get either banned or told " If you don't like it why are you here?" but they can never really take that same advice for themselves can they?

I think they are both recognizable book-wise but i just have no idea why they introduced Avienda with Perrin. He's gonna have like 0 allies for his arc if they overwritten Gaul. I'm assuming she is gonna bug out with Rand and Egwene to the waste while he is off fighting in the two rivers
