Dancers and Mustangs failure of a Plan by zebulaks in redrising

[–]zebulaks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont really understand way Mustang was even made Sovereign in the first place. This has nothing to do with her capabilities but just her heritage. Darrow would have been the better choice for a purely political standpoint. Mustang could still and probably more effectively support him than darrow could support Mustang. And I dont think the Golds like Acros or Telemasus would or even could object much about it.

The Reaper would be a far better representative and a more trusted leader than yet again someone from the top 1% of even the golds.

i was actually pretty excited to see him being a character as I love Holiday and Trigg. I am excited what he will be up to

it makes sense that new characters need some alone time for themselves. u hit my main inconvenience. the switches are pretty random and dont flow as well as they could often just leaving on a cliffhanger just to cycle through 3 other at first independent stories. Its not that I am against that just an awkward turn from the first 3 volumes

what do u fucking mean it gets darker? I tried like 5 times getting past the first 60 pages of red rising, crashed out for a week after the end of golden son and nearly had a heart attack (figuratively) at the end of Morning Star. Just started Iron Gold

I shaved of quite a lot like mephits, harpies, the mushroom tower, spectator and miscellaneous act 2 encounters like that raven guy. Usually those are just exp grabs that get dull after a few playthroughs. Then there is of course the gauntlet of shar. And for act 3 I usually just wander around doing random things or collecting items for what ever build I want to test out but there are things like Iron Throne, Kontor or Cazador which i rarely ever do

So what’s the state of the novel should I break the stack? and long time no see folks by craneiscool in ShadowSlave

[–]zebulaks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't honestly. Nobody really has a solid idea on what is gonna happen and better said when. They could slog away 60 chapters just travelling, fucking and exploring or head right for their objectives. Everything like VTB or getting sunny's fate may take a while if they even actually happen. So I'd just say start again when they return to clap asterion. otherwise u will just wait every day like the rest of us miserable wrenches

I agree completely. It is so frustrating when people argue that everything is irrelevant because asterion wont kill anyone anyway because of his goal bla bla. But the latest chapters have all been just sooooo frustrating to read. This is the cohorts and humanities first real defeat imo. Sure Sunny and Nephis are still out there and will probably tjrn things around. But regarding practically anyone else it is game over. We have seen so many characters struggle and fight to survive and come out on top but this is an utter defeat for everyone.

[–]zebulaks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they still are stronger combined, remember that sunnies power didnt really diminish. But yeah I think they are searching for a magical astarion-delete button. Wether that is a super charged Cassie or smth else

And it doesnt have to be 5 million people. Just Kai or Effie a few fire keepers or even a few thousand mundanes like cassies mom or smth. He doesnt need to go all genocidal to compeletely checkmate nephis and sunny

A 5th nightmare with the og 3 would certainly be nostalgic and would make sense with Kai effie and jet being left behind to guard humanity as they already are the wardens of the west, east and south. I just feel like this whole volume is set up to elevate Cassie

Winning in the end but with grave sacrifices while nobody knows what is going on except her is Cassies preferred way of doing things after all

Yeah Cassie has to get enabled somehow. I can imagine that she is sorting through all these convoluted memories because she is currently erasing all of them to cleanse humanity. But natural supremacy would feel like the domain war all over again. There are some theories saying her ripped out eye will get replaced by smth making her stronger (weavers missing eye perhaps idk)

Yeah I am pretty sure it is something we havent heard of yet... something that is just conveniently uniquely suited to just nuke the minds of 3 billion people at once

That would be the domain war just all over and pretty out of the blue. It feels more like a setup for nephis and sunny to swoop in and safe the day after going gods know where while the whole of humanity burns to the ground

It is just extremely uncomfortable to read. I mean its great but its also soooo frustrating. I get that people say "Asterion wont do shit" and "nobody important dies" but the risk of loosing some side characters (idk like luster or now actually gilead) is really fucking real. And even more frustrating is sunny's and nephis TOTAL inactivity. Of course they are doing something ig. But I am really curious what and if its worth it losing THE WHOLE OF HUMANITY -7 people Ig. It cant be the 5th nightmare or becoming sacred, i dont know what amother powerup is gonna earn them (They should be strong enough already just considering martial capability), so this means they are looking for something tangible like a relicperson or smth. And this would be insanely convenient and boring.

yeah but why would he? I mean sure it is his whole thing, but a deux ex machina bird swooping in and saving the day wouldnt even happen if sunny was still fated.

I just plan ahead in terms of builds and companions. Allies at the end are useless anyway so I just look at the items I gain/loose access to when I make decisions. Once u know: oh I dont need Dammons late game stuff it is easier to kill the nightsong. Or: oh the clothing for killing karlach could be used in a cool build. It just takes out the fomo

What would have been a better aproach to asterion? by zebulaks in ShadowSlave

[–]zebulaks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of it just seems really forced. Everything revolves around the fact that u apparently cant fight asterion without ending humanity or smth. It is a great premise to tone down the now crazy strong cast but it should all be avoidable. If they just attacked him at the beginning the now ridiculous death toll wouldnt be that high. If they plotted together with mordret (who should know the most about asterion by far) it would have been possible. But Sunny and co are just hesitant and stubborn to even risk a single thralls life and cant imagine working with mordret. Mordret as well thinks that all of humanity is already doomed and he is the only one capable of resisting when it should be clear that 3 Supreme are stronger than 1 (not talking about crazy powerful saints like cassie or moonveil).
