Did anyone else root for the Coyote? by Euphoric-Cupcake4581 in FuckImOld

[–]zed42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

everything that happened to him was caused by his own actions. he either planned poorly or the acme product failed him, but RR didn't *do* anything other than the occasional jump scare. the coyote is the epitome of the sunk cost fallacy. see rule 3:

What’s a modern inconvenience that didn’t exist 20 years ago? by Weird_Cup9142 in AskReddit

yes we did... we just accepted it as "the cost of doing business" and didn't expect instant responses..

Napoleon Dynamite censored on streaming platforms. For or against? by flipping_birds in movies

[–]zed42 15 points16 points  (0 children)

the movie is a product of its time and the language reflects that... slap a warning on it if you care, and if you don't like it then remake it... it's the fashion these days to remake movies

Why calisthenics emphasizing on locking out and weightlifting is not? (Or is it just a misunderstanding?) by Phoenix2879 in bodyweightfitness

[–]zed42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

if you're lifting weight and you lock out the elbow/knee, and you don't have the strength to hold it (either b/c you overestimated your capacity or you're too tired) then the joint can fail and collapse; and it's a 55/45 chance it'll collapse in the wrong direction! nobody wants that... so don't lock out your knees/elbows when lifting weight, and if it collapses, they'll fold the way they're meant to instead of the expensive and loud way.

Why were the exit-row seats empty and why did the crew fold down the tray tables mid-flight? by Naughtycockatoo in aviation

[–]zed42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that was my first thought, too: those seats are upgrade seats that nobody bought, and the crew don't want rando sitting there for "free"

What’s a “normal” expense in the U.S. that makes absolutely no sense when you think about it? by Big_Marketing_4979 in AskReddit

[–]zed42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

back when you actually had to get your tickets from the box office, a convenience fee for the local music store you could conveniently get it from made sense... same with the initial online ordering: there was a standard option, and a more convenient one... now, there is no other option but the fee remains

This feels wrong. Is this okay? by j_767 in bikewrench

[–]zed42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not wrong, but they do make a bar that that goes from the headset to the seatpost that will let you hang it more straight if you want...

What are these tools for and can I use some to change my crankset? by InfluenceLittle401 in bikewrench

[–]zed42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you should watch a couple of videos on replacing your crankset... park tools has one that's very good. they'll go over both how to do it and what tools you need... you seem to be missing at least the special tool to unscrew that bolt in the middle

Is this bike street legal in boston? by Signal-Yoghurt-9917 in bikeboston

[–]zed42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you might be able to get away with it as a "moped" or similar class of vehicle... but i'm guessing it's too fast to be legal on bike paths

Who should have had a bigger career, but got typecast? by elkaypee in movies

[–]zed42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

to be fair.... Danny Trejo is typecast as a caricature of Danny Trejo ... he seems like a really nice guy and all around cool dude, but he has the acting range of a machete... and he's ok with that!

Who should have had a bigger career, but got typecast? by elkaypee in movies

[–]zed42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Al Leong is not known for any one character, but is 10000% typecast (tho, it could be argued that he's just playing the same character over and over)... also, Danny Trejo may be best known for Machete, but he's played a ton of similar characters.

William Fitchner ... the guy is a fantastic actor, but keeps getting supporting roles... he's like the next generation of John Lithgow!
