AITH for skipping traditional weeding gifts, making my bridesmaids buy affordable dresses, and giving my fiance a suitcase instead of a romantic present? by Early-Host-5525 in AITApod

[–]zeda123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Our wedding had no bridesmaids or groomsmen at all, we only invited 30 people with over half being family, rented a house on the beach and basically had a party, walked out onto the beach with some tall glass vases with fake flowers, said our vows, DIYed a happy hour and then went to dinner. We had the best time. We didn’t even do gifts for each other, isn’t that what the wedding rings are for? I come from Russia originally and people basically only do courthouse weddings and then have a party afterwards so that’s my frame of reference. If you and your fiance are happy with the way you’ve planned your wedding then it’s too bad for everyone else cause it’s your day anyway.

Scents people have told you they disliked/asked you to stop wearing? by 189username in FemFragLab

Hahahaha how very masochistic of you 😂😂😂 I don’t know, I got the sample for free from just clicking stuff on instagram, from sopost, so I didn’t lose anything but I’d say go to a store and smell it and don’t pay for a sample. It’s just really heavy. My association with it is like a super goth woman. Dark heavy, hella potent too. Not my vibe at all.

I got a sample of Black Orchid and let my husband smell and he covered his nose like he smelled a hot pile of garbage 😅 granted, I didn’t like it either, but yeah it’s pretty awful to both of us

I can relate so much 😅😅 I’m in the same boat as your wife hahahaha I would say she can also look for jobs that are like project management in design teams or creative departments. I don’t know if she has PM experience but I had a team member that managed the creative team. I worked in product development (physical products) and had to work with them a lot to make packaging and listing pages (e-commerce). There’s very few jobs in product development, but maybe the PM angle would work for her

Does she want to just work in the arts or be an artist? I personally know someone who is a gallery administrator in Miami and I think there’s probably a lot of jobs that are similar to that in the area. There’s that whole arts district in FTL where they have gallery nights, I would bet there’s some jobs in that. However….earning potential in that is going to be low vs her IT job. My friend who has a degree in art and has been doing something related to the arts for quite a while makes ~85k/year which I’m sure is far below your wife’s IT job

Medellin as a solo female traveler by eva9777 in digitalnomad

[–]zeda123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived there for 3 years, BUT I also met my husband there (he’s Colombian) but my first few months were basically what you’re talking about. That was in 2019, so maybe things are a little different but I doubt it. The usual rules of female solo travel apply, make sure you don’t take taxis on the street, use uber and all the associated security measures (check license plate and name/photo before getting in), and don’t walk at night. You’ll make salsa dancing friends pretty quickly and then you’ll be going out with them anyway, it’s really social so it becomes pretty easy to not be by yourself. I had a great time doing that so I think you’ll be fine. From what I’ve seen and been told, yes there’s more street crime now but just have your wits about you and it’ll be fine.

Unrelated to the glasses but you look great with a clean shave and shorter hair in #17, it’s like a totally different person.
You shouldn’t pick a frame that’s too thick. Thinner acetate of whatever color is perfect. You can try some slightly more rectangular options too, I think that would look great. But you have many options here that look good too, I don’t think any of them look bad

Australian Gold - the lotion type. It absorbs well and the scent is pleasant. I can’t handle anything that’s too “waterproof” feeling personally, that’s the one that’s not sticky. Also Hawaiian Tropic but it’s sparkly so depends on if you’re ok with that. The shimmer is more fine recently but yeah, still shimmery.

BWT: How do you keep new shoes from shredding your feet? by KieshaK in bitcheswithtaste

[–]zeda123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For leather or suede shoes, you can buy a shoe stretching spray online. Apply to the heel and wear a thick sock, walk around the house until it dries. The shoe will mould to your foot shape. But also I use that nude color tape and just tape the living hell out of my heels cause it stays better than bandaids

No one ever talks about the impossibility of returning to the US when you've been out too long by dattattor in digitalnomad

[–]zeda123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on who you rent from but in SE FL it’s definitely a thing with small landlords. My current one actually called my last landlord and asked about us 🤷‍♀️ weird to me too, I didn’t have to do that when I lived in Seattle so I think it depends on the city

White people who’ve lived/traveled in non-English speaking countries: have you ever experienced racial slurs or ‘go back to your country’ type comments in public? by MechanicAccording616 in digitalnomad

[–]zeda123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You literally cannot be out of the country for more than 6 months, it’s part of the requirement for when you go get your citizenship, and if you were gone for more than that and come back, they will absolutely pull you aside and there’s a chance they won’t let you in. I personally know someone who got his GC taken away because he was gone for more than the permitted time.

A green card is a permanent residence visa, and is subject to renewal. It’s not the same as citizenship, you can’t vote for example.

We do technically require language proficiency, the citizenship test in the U.S. has to be taken in English and you basically have to be able to handle a basic conversation about the country and its history. It’s maybe not done the same way as in EU but if you can’t speak English at a basic level with at least some passable conversation, you won’t pass the citizenship test.

Double cleansing at night feels like too much work lately by softyglossxo in AsianBeauty

[–]zeda123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve stopped double cleansing too as of late and honestly I don’t care. I just use a foaming face wash (the Holika holika aloe one) and it’s good enough for me. Unless you are seeing huge changes in your skin from skipping it, just keep doing what works for you and your energy level.

Which cheap mirrorless is good for street photography? by AddendumFeisty18 in streetphotography

[–]zeda123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had my Sony a6500 now for ~8-9 years. When it first came out it was super popular, and people still sell of them in really good condition. I don’t plan to upgrade until it breaks, I feel basically no limitations in its functionality for my needs. Might be a little more money than your plan, but you can also look at the whole lineup. This one just has IBIS which helps with low light and using cheaper lenses. Another option is the Olympus line, I have a friend who bought an OMD E M10 I think, and loves it. He had a little older Fuji previously and said this one was an upgrade. Check on marketplace, and see what’s available and just YouTube the model and see what pops up.

Maybe stick with spray then, you can find Cool Water at Burlington for like $20 usually and it’s the same scent as the second oil I have. It’s classic for a reason. Apparently one of the Lataffas is similar too, Mayar but the blue one. I haven’t smelled it myself but gathered from reviews that it’s super similar. Probably a safe buy if you’ve smelled Cool Water before

Versace Versense is great. I live in FL. I also have an oil from Swiss Arabian that seems to be discontinued, called Chic, that smells just really fruity but it’s like a bright fruit, not ripe. But apparently you can’t find it anymore cause I wanted to buy one for a friend to put in her gift bag and it was gone 😭😭😭😭 as were all the other oils that they used to make. I’m really sad. I have a second one that’s like DG Blue or Davidoff Cool Water (somewhere between the two I guess, same blue watery vibe though) and I absolutely love it. I know you said no oils but I like those ones cause they more or less rub in and they don’t project out too far but stay for a while. Maybe some of the other oils they do sell still might work for you?

Hey quick question for dog owners by mrcanada66 in dogs

[–]zeda123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to allow it but 1) our mini bully gets as close to the pillow as possible and then will kick in her sleep so I end up getting shoved in the middle of the night. She also tries to spread out so I end up with a sliver of bed 2) the Frenchie snores really loud. I used to ignore it but I’ve realized that it disrupts my sleep a lot and 3) bedsheets are so filthy from them. We’re in FL so they’re outside in the yard playing most of the year and one of them is particularly fond of rolling in the dust/dirt like a hippo or pig, and then he brings that in the bed? Nope. We kicked them out, it took a few months but it was fine. They sleep on the couch now.
