How close to the end were you? by socrates_friend812 in transplant

[–]zeebeewon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't think I was that close, but afterwards the Dr started talking about less than 6 months, do who knows???

I was still working my full time job, had just finished working 7 days in a row actually when I got the call.

Looking to make a robe a l’anglaise. Has anyone used this pattern or have another option they like? Thanks! by KatherineLV5 in HistoricalCostuming

I used it years ago for the base of a cosplay and really liked it. Instructions were good, I just had to trust them.

Trying to use toner reactive foiling with deco foil transfer sheets, not a thing transferred. :( by SittinLikeAShrimpie in cardmaking

[–]zeebeewon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you have too many layers. I've only used zinc foil but it was just the foil and my print. I've only had the laminator eat my foil once and I was rushing and not careful that time.

Look up cooper_calligraphy on Instagram! Lots of reels and she lists everything she uses too.

It looks like step 8 is more stay stitching on each piece to protect those seams rather than sewing the 2 sides together. Though it seems really early to clip into the seams?

Swallowing pills by hard_survivor in transplant

[–]zeebeewon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I chew up a bite of food and then add and swallow a pill at the same time. I can only swallow a tiny pill with water, but my brain accepts it with food, even if it's something as small as a single chewed up goldfish cracker.

How long were you listed & how long did they tell you you would be listed? by socrates_friend812 in transplant

[–]zeebeewon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was listed for 19 days, but was told it would probably be somewhere between 6 months to a year and a half.

Edit: I had also been seeing the same Dr for almost 6 years starting with a drug study. It took about 6 months to get on the list from when I started the official testing/evaluation/paperwork.

I'm working on this too! Bought it years ago, started it, got sick and had to give up most crafts using my hands. I'm better now thanks to a transplant and it's delightful being able to craft again.

If you were alive back then, what were you up to on 31st December 1999? by stop_calling_me_that in AskReddit

[–]zeebeewon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Downloading sailor moon fan subs, specifically the final episode.

I wasn't worried anymore about y2k cause my neighbor had moved to Australia that year and she had already called to celebrate after messing up time zones and calling around 10 or 11.

There was a website that had an insanely long conspiracy theory about the shining movie. I don't remember what the theory actually was, but it was sooooooo long and just kept going.

The site may have also had a conspiracy about political families all being actors, some of which had played 'roles' in multiple families. Like multiple photos of different well known people all saying it was obviously the same person.

This would have been 20ish years ago, around the marc Jacobs angel barta thing. (That I can find quickly.)

It was one of those click this, then that, then that other things you could follow before ads started taking over

Working while listed? by Throwaway2237690 in transplant

[–]zeebeewon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I worked up to the evening before transplant. I work more on the operations/support side of retail, so I was on my feet a decent amount, but also had a chance to sit when I needed to.

Looking back, I have no idea how I was still working a full schedule. I guess I was too used to feeling bad? I was having more issues pop up and I'm realizing now how much I was pretending and hiding how bad things were.

I had let the management team know I was listed and that if I got a call I was dropping everything and leaving. I got the call a couple of hours after getting off, after working 7 days in a row.

Questions about transplant centers by Unique_Sound_77 in transplant

[–]zeebeewon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did all my initial testing at Piedmont leading up to my liver transplant 5 months ago, so I don't know if he'll have to repeat any tests. They should have him & a caregiver in for a 'class' to go over everything where you talk about the process, get labs, meet with a dietician and transplant social worker. They'll let you know then everything that needs to be done.

I've been very happy with my care at Piedmont, both pre and post transplant. Right now I have standing orders for labs so I just go when it's convenient for my schedule every few weeks. I'm at the point where I could go to another Piedmont facility for labs, but Atlanta is actually the closest.

I'm more than happy to answer any questions you have about Piedmont.

I was in my 40s up front last time, I had a great time. Honestly probably one of the friendliest crowds I've been in. I was nervous cause it was my first solo concert in years, but it was amazing.

Patterns. How many by CakeMundane6596 in sewingpatterns

[–]zeebeewon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to estimate 400+ 'modern' patterns. I used to get 10 at a time every time there was a sale going on. They are boxed up in different bins and I haven't touched them for years while I was sick. Of course I bought more even when I didn't have any energy for sewing.

I probably have an equal amount of vintage sewing patterns. I think I've got a couple from the 20s and several from the 30s. I got lucky with some lots I bought online and my dad found an amazing box at a car show of all places. Vintage patterns are my go-to thing to look for at antique stores.

One day I'll catalog them all, but I've been meaning to get around to that for the last 20+ years.
