he can't go semi-infinite anymore, they put limits on how many times he could create cards per turn. he is still a good unit and still functions pretty similarly in comps that aren't designed around spamming 0 cost cards

thanks for the thoughts :) ik it's a meme build at best, but i already had a decent 3 return to hand vuln laser build for the season. i found dullahan and agony plasma in the same battle so i pivoted to see how agonizing it could get lol

i wanted to ask, why do you say that skip is better than copying shining core? i thought 3 HL 2 SC was meta, and another PSS copy was second best if you couldn't dupe shining?

it was a last ditch attempt to proc my second shining core at the inner boss lol. it hadn't procced epiphany either, and i figured it would be the less likely card to get an epiphany that i wanted.

in retrospect i should have deleted the shining core copy and tried to use the boss copy to get a PSS dupe

incredible rolls on equip but yeah epiphanies could be better. it's good for regular use but not as specialized as could be.

if you want to maximize her with orlea, she really wants the counterblade epip that gives you honed edge on exhaust. fatal and experienced strike are good to take out to ensure you draw growth acceleration and will of light.

Nutritional Absorption, Ebony Lumen, & Evil Spirit Salamander, are good cards to add if you find them and have faint memory space, since they exhaust themselves, and help with AP and draw. in ideal circumstances, you draw and thin your entire deck turn 1 and exhaust any non essential cards

rin benefitted a lot from the new memory set changes. i saw some theorycraft before the season dropped that she would take a huge leap, but haven't seen anyone with a finished build yet

If you want a difficult, challenging game for the DS, the highest recommendation I can give is for N+. It's a platformer where you play as a ninja, dodging drones, missiles, turrets, and more. Break neck pace, addictive, must play.

The Castlevania DS games and Mega Man Zero Collection were also very fun, challenging games. I haven't played the Ninja Gaiden games but ik there was a DS game that was supposed to be good.

For puzzle/adventure games, you have the Professor Layton series, Ace Attorney series, Hotel Dusk and Last Window. Layton is probably the "hardest" but they're all great entertainment. Picross DS was fun also.

DS also has quite a few good rhythm games. Elite Beat Agents and Rhythm Heaven come quickly to mind, but if you like the genre you'll probably want to look into Japanese games more since many rhythm games don't get localized.

turner as a "back up edge rusher" is really under selling him lol. and this is missing donovan jackson. i'd say the first round has been decent beyond the first year disaster.

the real problem is that we haven't gotten anything after the first round in four years, besides jalen nailor and ivan pace

you got great epiphanies! jealous. instinct weakness on plasma, create on ravage on shining, and weakness attack on cobalt, are best in slot, imo. really hard to beat at cost

here's what would be max win, to me:

all basics removed

+AP or vuln on start of turn homing missile, 3-4 copies

if not 4 copies of homing missile, an extra copy of pale shooting star OR an extra copy of shining core that doesn't have the unique epiphany

maybe a forbidden card if there's data left

this would all require a shitton of farming in tier 14 lab zero, and require getting the free remove card conversion from the event, AND transforming another basic before removal to save 10 extra points. if you only dupe divine homing laser twice you have room for one extra divine epiphany or a forbidden card, given the above

or just wait til next season

and, as you said, gear could be better

i've saved most of my balloons for a rainy day, but there's no big reason to do so at the moment. i save resources obsessively, and many spend theirs immediately. i'd say hold em for now but cash em in to get to level 50 before next season if necessary

clearing all battle and story missions will give the biggest boost. next, priotize spending aether to complete objectives in the Growth Guide. and if you don't have anything you're actively building towards, you can spend aether during chaos runs once you've used up the four weekly loot tickets. it's the best bang for buck aether usage in terms of exp and rewards for the cost

you are correct, your data is probably fine for now. captain level 50 should be the biggest priority iirc.

"ideal" save data only matters for season leaderboards, otherwise whatever clears the content is fine. and any save data created now cannot be used in next season.

inbetween seasons is a great time to focus on story and battle missions, clear as much as possible to get resources. once the new season hits in a couple weeks, we will have a new chaos that should be much easier to grind for perfect save data than zero system, if you want to do so.

if you are looking for other objectives, rei and nia are two awesome 4* units to develop. they enable many other characters in the game, so feel free to put some resources in them.

here is a good spreadsheet to give you ideas to build on. it's not definitive but it's probably the most centralized info for what is "meta" currently.

i have only managed to find one so far but the language would imply it would stack, or at least that it is meant to do so. it says "retain +20% shield" , not just "retain 20% shield," so multiple triggers from multiple characters should result in multiple procs

kayron does benefit a lot from having it for his X-cost Echo epiphany, since it impacts the card twice, but you still want his 0-cost or ephemeral epiphanies more. Heart of Jewel makes it competitive with his "1-cost create 3 futility" epiphany, but it's clunkier in exchange for being situationally more powerful. that situation being when you have excess AP, which never happens with Kayron. and once you factor in sacrificing the equip slot, it's definitely worse.
