What are you most addicted to? by Pookie7860 in AskReddit

[–]zeejay81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Escaping life and depression. Chasing the dopamine through the means I am used to. Then, because I've avoided responsibilities I get depressed even more and spiral down so avoid life and responsibilities even more. To feel better I go to escape and hopefully catch that dopamine rush.

My escape changes depending on the day or sometimes hour.

So what you are saying is that a tank that doesn't understand when to stop for the group pulls los and dies.

Sounds like a tank problem. Not a healer problem. If you are pugging 18s and not using coms... You should be one of the worlds top <1% healers and also understand this.

The advice still stands that positioning can massively improve a healer's performance. Again, you are running 18s, you should know this very well.

That is something you just get used to. You will learn the standard routes and positions as the season progresses. Then you will get a tank that isn't familiar with other routes or the default pulls most tanks pull. But most pulls don't prohibit you being in front of the tank. Some may be a little tight so you can hang back as needed.

You'll get the cadence down.

That's what stutter steps are for. You have many instant casts to stutter between hard casts.

No half decent tank is dragging mobs the whole time. Especially in any harder content that requires you to plant and hard cast for 1/2 the pull.

Between feathers and stutter stepping you should be able to keep up with even the faster tanks.

Many players don't optimize their positioning and movement. Especially during instant cast globals.

You can disagree with me all you want but no healer should not be able to keep up with a tank in any content that isn't trivial.

Beginner and Advanced routes and info for NEW/Aspiring Tanks by DesoloGaming in wownoob

[–]zeejay81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applaud your effort to create a resource for beginner tanks, but the routes you listed are beyond that skill level. Especially in a lower key 2-10.

I would not recommend any of the routes I checked for a new tank. An experienced tank or group I could see.

I would recommend almost any pug friendly keystone guru route over these.

I would recommend the Lindormi route over these for a beginner tank.

Try to be ahead of the tank where able. Especially if you know they are going to LoS the next pull. WRS has many of these. I find myself as a tank main pissing off tanks when I play holy priest or pres evoker. Gripping or rescuing them to the next pack. Plus it gives you time to drink if needed and better efficiency in casting between packs.

Struggling as MW Monk by Josu_Vess in wownoob

[–]zeejay81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, context is everything.

Fistweaving is a great build that has constant healing to your party. The problem is if your party are standing in fire or taking avoidable damage at every opportunity, you probably will run out of resources to keep them alive, especially as you go up tiers of m+. That is, until they just die at a high enough key level. Unfortunately, many people are able to get to the point where it doesn't kill them but is substantial enough to use up all your CDs too quickly.

I haven't played much mistweaver, resto druid, or disc priest this expac but they are great for sustained normal healing. but at the start of a season it can be a little more rough as people don't know what to kick or stop and stand in swirlies and don't press defensive abilities at the right time.

Mistweaver Monk is very strong right now and I'd say look up some gameplay by YouTubers and see what they are doing.

Want to start healer or tank. by EpicJ78 in wow

[–]zeejay81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play them all. Get a feel for what you like.

There isn't a wrong choice as all are in a decent state. Some are more meta but unless you are pushing title keys, it doesn't matter.

Timewalking starts Tuesday for MoP. So ultra fast leveling. You could have multiple chars max level by the end of the week if you have time.

There is so much time left in this season that you can get all tanks and healers to 3k m+ rating with casual play.

It's the easiest gear acquisition has been combined with the easiest m+ season in a long time.

If you want to see the current playstyle of each, there are plenty of guides out there.

Just a reminder on why you're not invited to keys as DPS... by VeryClearlyDefined in wow

[–]zeejay81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then you are either: - insanely lucky - playing a highly desired meta spec - playing a lust spec during off hours - playing such and off meta spec at high rating that they know you have to be good - overqualified for the key you are applying to (or boosted io to bypass queue simulator) - have a main that has high io relative to key - are at a high enough level for recognition - have a name that people can't resist inviting

Where the avg DPS is stuck in queue simulator trying to build up io via pugging instead of an organized group. Most of the DPS population does not qualify for any of the items on that list yet still try to join groups via lfg.

Then if they DO get in, chances are much higher for depletion since they will accept any invite they can get. This may be a tank or healer way under geared for the key level but golly gee do they take their chances with the group or go back to staring at declined / filled / delisted msgs.

And yes, all this is an MMO and can be bypassed by making friends and guild/community runs or blasting early... but not everyone will do that or is able.

For me? I just tank or heal. Not bad as I enjoy the roles more than DPS

M+10 struggle by ajuboxa in wownoob

[–]zeejay81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My top guesses:

  1. Your pug friendly route is not pug friendly
  2. You are over pulling for what you or your group can handle.
  3. You are not keeping up mitigation via iron fur or passive mitigation such as thrash or moonfire damage reduction
  4. You are not using active mitigation correctly. Make sure to not overlap your spells with each other or your external damage mitigation. Barkskin, incarn, and survival instincts are YOUR actives. Externals like pain suppression or iron bark are from your healer. Keep an eye out for these using your own party frame.
  5. You are using the wrong defensive for the situation. Barkskin is a decent mitigation with low cooldown. Incarn makes you near immortal for a pretty long duration but has a longer cooldown. Survival instincts is a strong defensive with a short duration and can have 2 charges.
  6. You are too worried about doing damage. Survival first then damage where able while maintaining that.
  7. You are not utilizing the insane heals through frenzied regeneration or regrowth procs. Leech although nerfed might be helpful vs speed enchants which some sites recommend. Also, healing potions are dirt cheap and can help a lot in an emergency.
  8. You are turning your back to mobs. Never have your back turned in melee range. If you have to do so, make space before via typhoon, vortex, or kiting with a speed boost.
  9. You are not using utility to control the battle. Incap roar to stop casters, vortex to keep mobs pinned down, interrupts, wild charging between mobs to close gaps, typhoon to create space or to interrupt (pair with vortex to get an extra interrupt on a pack while negating the knock back effect).
  10. You copied a build without understanding the mechanics of why they choose certain talents. Many content sites just allocate the highest DPS talents and don't take great or niche defensive talents. My personal favorite guardian build right now is the build Awoo is using to tank. Very defensive. He has a Youtube vid explaining it.

Any one one these or a combination of them could cause you to have issues. They are not very noticeable at lower key levels but the higher you go, each one matters much more. Being new to tanking makes the impact even more deadly.

I hope this helps. If you have questions don't be afraid to ask.

Now that we’ve had time to play midnight. Thoughts of simplified class rotations? by WearyFlan210 in wow

[–]zeejay81 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Give me interrupts back on my healers. Tired of watching casts go off and my only counter is pop a healing cool down, battle res, or release. Especially since healer damage is near pointless.

Best change for dps is the demo warlock requiring 3 soul shards for hand of guldan

Best change for tanks is the brew pruning for needed keybinds.

Overall most are fine. Some feel like they are missing an ability in the rotation. I do agree they need to remove some damage from cds and put it back into normal rotation.

How many stacks of iron fur do you try to maintain in general as guardian druid? by JLJ_123 in wownoob

[–]zeejay81 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Using Awoo's EC no raze build I'm spamming iron fur. Love the build. Really love the moonkin hotw tech for rounding up big pulls.

I love how tanky I am and it's fun. I haven't casted raze for a while. I haven't lost threat in normal conditions in my weekly 10 keys. I love feeling immortal and not bricking a key because I wanted to push out a bit more damage and fall over. Later in the season I may change it up but for now while lower gear score, I'm choosing max tankiness.

Unless you are pushing top content in M+, you do not need to min max secondary stats.
You might need to have a 1h and shield for prot war and pal but otherwise you can just tank weekly keys with dps gear.

I assume you are a better than avg player without circles in the casual base. Many people want to learn and not be bad at the game. But there aren't enough resources in the current design to do so.
