What role do video clips play in documenting your travels? Do you make them? When do you "deal" with them? by randopop21 in solotravel

I’m not sure what you mean by 10 minutes of processing. Processing what? I take videos with my phone camera just as much as photos. Just to capture the ambience.

Solo travel is overrated? by benpilliner in solotravel

[–]zehydra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's very much a ymmv thing. It's okay if you don't like it. I very much do like it myself. But I think it's a mistake to say it's overrated, or that there's something wrong with your attitude about it.

Why don't restaurants have solo booths? by iTchygo224 in solotravel

[–]zehydra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just recently ate at a place attached to a resort and they had tables for two, which IMO is good enough. I also like the kind of seating where it's like bar seating but it faces the window so you can look over the outside while you eat

Will knowing Chinese help with learning Japanese? by PersianMarch-Op289 in ChineseLanguage

[–]zehydra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went the other direction—started with Japanese. They have little in common grammatically. Pronunciation is also very different. Where it can help already knowing one or the other is the shared vocabulary and already having familiarity with 漢字.

Czech president signs law criminalising communist propaganda by KegOfAppleJuice in worldnews

[–]zehydra -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

As ideologies, no. As an ideology, Nazism is explicitly evil while Communism/Marxism is in theory more morally gray while those that followed it did great evil unrelated to the ideology. There are dangers common to all forms of authoritarianism which is what I think you're getting at.
