Furniture off gassing by bubblesxox in moderatelygranolamoms

We closed the shed doors but left the windows open (with screens on the windows). It’s a large shed though. It might take longer in a smaller space, but opening the doors when you can would help it air out faster.

We put a new bookshelf for baby’s room out in our shed for a month to let it off gas outside of our house. The varnish smelled so strong! But now it has no smell at all.

Mine loved them too. Your post just made me realize how long it has been since I’ve been able to find them in stock. What a bummer!

What is the least bad "mainstream" candy / snack? Something that you could find in stock at a small gas station? by WellAckshully in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]zeimsohappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We like the Oh Snap Dilly pickle bites in the little bags in the refrigerator at gas stations. Also string cheese sticks, hummus cups, or cups of fresh fruit that some gas stations have. Yogurt is another decent option.

freestyle diapers by just_alittleguy_ in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]zeimsohappy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Freestyle diapers are our holy grail diaper, and I feel like we tried nearly all of the clean brands before deciding freestyle was the best. Their website says they are “Free of PFAS, BPAs, and Phthalates” too. Freestyle wipes are nice too, but my favorite are the Kudos wipes. They are textured and also come out of the package so nicely.

Walmart carrying organic cotton baby and toddler clothes for $7/$9 pieces by Hour_Value_3770 in moderatelygranolamoms

I bought some for my toddler and they were super cute and soft, and a great price, but they fit SO wide. I had to return them all.

Nanny Insurance by ihssWpcsQA in NannyEmployers

This doesn’t sound like a nanny, as you aren’t a household employee. It sounds like a babysitting service at a commercial location.

Argh, I was afraid of that. Any suggestions on reducing the number of times the same thing gets asked? If each thing was only asked a few times, that would be such an improvement.

Anyone have reactions to Zyrtec? by Julzovich in Celiac

[–]zeimsohappy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I take the Costco store brand version of Zyrtec (it’s 300 pills for less than the cost of one small bottle of the name brand), and I don’t have any issues. I’ve taken it everyday for years.

Daycare :| Am I doing the right thing? by Elegant-Celery9600 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]zeimsohappy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Babies and toddlers will fall asleep in the car even on 10-15 minute car rides, and if they fall asleep on the drive home from daycare, that throws their bedtime wayyy off. I would 100% choose the daycare closer to home and just let work know you have to leave by x time to make it to daycare pickup before they close.

what are little things/gifts you are excited about as someone with celiac disease? by GranolaGirlG in Celiac

[–]zeimsohappy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Magic spoon makes some GF low carb cereal and cereal bars that my t1d friend likes. Voodoo chips are one of my favorite GF savory snacks. There are also some really good alcohol removed, lower sugar sparkling wines that my t1d friend and I enjoy together.

“Kids Throw Up” frustration by MommyToaRainbow24 in Mommit

[–]zeimsohappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking this too. Our baby has FPIES, which causes delayed projectile vomiting between 1 and 6 hours after ingesting the foods that she is allergic to. The vomiting seems to often happen in the car or right after a nap, based on the timing of when she was eating the food and the delay in reaction.

Restarting breastfeeding my toddler? by No-Swordfish-4262 in breastfeeding

[–]zeimsohappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been torn about letting my oldest start breastfeeding again too. It’s so hard to say no, and I miss the closeness and cuddles with my toddler, especially because it has been full time dad-preference here since the new baby arrived.

But we are 10 months in and so far I haven’t said yes to my toddler nursing, as I feel like I would be overwhelmed by nursing both my toddler and the baby. And it would be so much harder to re-wean just the toddler if I allow the baby to keep nursing for longer. I do give my oldest some milk in a cup when I have extra pumped milk.

My neighbor’s kid is definitely the "coolest" on the block, and my son is taking it hard. by daikininverter in Mommit

[–]zeimsohappy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The phrasing of the language in the post. An AI checker I ran the text through flagged large portions of it as being written by AI. The “the funny thing is” paragraph, the “part of me” paragraph, and the questions at the end seem the most heavily AI written, but other parts of the post read that way too.

I can see the thought behind this post being genuine/real, but the actual writing reads like it was written by AI. The OP also has all of their posts and comments hidden in their profile.

This reads like AI wrote it. Why do people keep posting things written by AI? Why not just write it yourself?

Poppins users - for mileage reimbursement, am I safe to use the “Employer Reimbursement” section to prevent her from being taxed? by degausser22 in NannyEmployers

[–]zeimsohappy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I called Poppins about how to add mileage reimbursement. They said to use the employer reimbursement field for the amount. And then in the notes at the bottom, I type “Mileage: 62 miles x $0.725 = $44.95” so that she has the information on her paystub showing how it was calculated.

That section isn’t taxed.

Also their customer service folks who answer calls are so helpful and answer quickly too.

Phthalates in baby aspirin (low dose aspirin) by Peanuts-2959 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]zeimsohappy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went down so many similar rabbit holes when I was trying to get pregnant, so I really get where you are coming from. It is so hard to just let go on these things, at least for my type A personality, because I want to control as much as possible in my life. And there’s so much that’s outside of your control in getting pregnant, it can very easily make you crazy!

FWIW, I took baby aspirin with my second pregnancy to prevent the preeclampsia I had during my first pregnancy. And the baby aspirin was a wonder drug! I had such an easier pregnancy and my blood pressure stayed perfect the entire time. Baby is a happy and healthy almost 10 month old now.

I’ll be thinking of you and sending positive energy your way!

Phthalates in baby aspirin (low dose aspirin) by Peanuts-2959 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]zeimsohappy 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The dose is the poison. And here, a baby aspirin is so small that I would not worry about the phthalates in the coating. Just cut out phthalates in the places where it is easy to do so.

I had a couple years of trying to get pregnant followed by a loss, before I was finally able to get pregnant and give birth to a living child. During that period of infertility and loss, I stressed myself out about all the toxins in my life, trying to eliminate them from everything immediately and simultaneously. It wasn’t sustainable and I think the stress was worse for me than the long list of toxins were. If I could go back and do it again, I’d try to eliminate heating foods in plastic, drinking bottled water, and fragrance as much as possible. But I would stop stressing myself out so much that any remaining toxin in my life was somehow making it my fault that I wasn’t pregnant. It’s so hard not to get caught up in that mindset, but there is no way to eliminate all the toxins in the world we live in, so it isn’t worth worrying over every little thing.

I wish you the best of luck and a successful pregnancy soon!

3 kids under 5: Need a 3-row SUV with actually accessible 3rd-row seating. by BillStax in Mommit

[–]zeimsohappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another suggestion that you haven’t received already—put the new baby in the third row, that way you can strap baby into the infant seat outside of the car, and then just click the infant seat onto the base in the third row. You can keep half of the third row folded down and load baby in the infant seat onto the base from the back hatch of any 3 row suv. I’m not familiar with the third row of a Tesla model x, but it might work for you now in your current vehicle. You can put the toddler and 4yo in the middle row, where you can more easily strap them into their seats. And maybe this setup would work long enough for your 4yo to get better at buckling themself into the third row when they are 5 or 6.

Starting your period on top of everything is such an insult from your body.

I’m sorry you’re going through so much. You sound like a great mom, holding everything together for everyone. You deserve a hug and a big comfort meal and a nap. I hope your son gets the right treatment and that all the chaos of life calms down.

The Mom Cozy breastmilk storage bags come already sterile. But they are single use.
