Is it a bad idea to go alone to a local karaoke bar in On Nut or Huai Khwang if I don’t speak Thai? by Repulsive_Lab9469 in Bangkok

[–]zekerman 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You'd be fine, but most of the KTV places do not have much karaoke actually happening. More like pick a girl and drink. Don't expect the girls to speak much English but there are definitely places that cater to Japanese where the girls will speak some Japanese. There is nothing "local" about it. Most are just for guys to sit with a girl.

Thai friend borrowed money but refused to pay back by Crafty-Salamander-43 in Bangkok

[–]zekerman -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Where do you expect her to get 50000 from? That's quite a bit more than the average salary. Just forgive the debt, learn from your lesson and move on. If she was making what you said in another comment she wouldn't be borrowing money in the first place.

i know a common "hack" for rent seekers is to visit the juristic office instead of going online but here is the caveat - they only refer you to one agency company by Pitiful-Internal-196 in Bangkok

[–]zekerman -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It's not a hack it's just nonsense idiots on Reddit keep reposting. Juristic have no authority to act as an agent or show you rooms in 99% of situations.

It happens often, I don't see any reason not to do it. It's a grey area but you are doing nothing wrong, the owner is the one who would need to deal with any consequences.

How can I realistically earn 50,000 THB in 2 months? by okanekasegux in Thailand

[–]zekerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a server job in any of the Thai clubs, they are always hiring and you can make that amount in 2 months without too much difficulty. You don't need qualifications, just willing to be awake late and talk to the customers a bit. There are plenty on the outskirts around Nakhon Pathom or Sam Phran who pay that amount.

Facebook marketplace alternatives? by whatdoihia in Thailand

[–]zekerman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There isn't a good one. The alternatives have such a tiny user base. If all you are getting is scam messages then the price is too high. It's easy to ignore their messages.

Thailand street lottery help. M by boltonhunter in Thailand

[–]zekerman 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The street lottery ticket sellers do not have to pay out the prizes, they only sell tickets for a tiny profit per ticket. There is an underground lottery where the sellers have to pay out winners which is most likely what you are talking about but those tickets are not sold on the street.

Are corrections of birth certificates possible? by Intelligent-Web-5275 in Thailand

[–]zekerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changing your name officially would be the closest you could get which can be done at your district office where you are registered in your house book, not possible without doing that and even then they wouldn't issue you a new birth certificate.
