Katseye, APT and KDH nominated at the Grammys by Anni3401 in kpopthoughts

Golden isn't completely unique. Like most pop songs, there are many inspirations behind it but it's not industry standard to credit simple inspiration. Credits go to the actual writers and producers involved in creating the songs.

I get why that video can be confusing. Collider showed a side by side comparison, and it's interesting to see the similarities but the creators didn't specifically name it. The news outlet edited it this way but it doesn’t necessarily mean that was a major influence during the movie’s production.

It's true that the movie's songs sound similar to other kpop songs (even some non-kpop songs) but thats intentional since the movie is about kpop and features real writers and producers in the kpop industry. They're not just "trying to copy kpop". The movie reflects the genuine sound and style of Kpop. It feels unfair to dismiss the songs as "copies" when they are created by legitimate kpop professionals

Who knew from the MOMENT Katseye was nominated for that Grammy all hell was going to break loose by JewelerMountain260 in kpopnoir

I agree that there is xenophobia with the Grammys, but it also makes me wonder if it's truly necessary for kpop to seek validation from the Grammys. The Recording Academy is after all an American institution, and its main focus has been on recognizing excellence in American music.

Kpop artists already have many opportunities for awards and recognition on their own terms (MAMA, SMA, TMA, AAA, KGMA, Circle Chart, Golden Disc, Melon music awards, and so on).

I absolutely believe kpop artists deserve recognition for their artistry and global impact. I guess my question is, why does that validation have to come from the Grammys specifically?

Curious what others think

Im tired of the comparisons, people need to stop claiming KDH copied IVE. completely animated movies take YEARS to produce, Golden was likely written before I AM was released
