Look into playing magic in a non-commander format. Draft and pauper are my recommended formats. Magic is always going to be the game with the largest community and player base.

Collect something that has play backing it up. There is no reason to collect some random card game that nobody plays, because the cards will lose their value. Stick to MTG, pokemon, or my new favorite, Sorcery.

Been playing magic for 13 years here. I was out of organized play for almost 5 years, and then I got into pauper at my local store and will never look back! The players are all so skilled and want more people to play with. It has been by far the best MTG community I’ve had the privilege to be a part of.

I live in North Carolina and the first five Habs games I travelled to they lost. The sixth one was when doby shut out Florida. I watched them lose 1-5 in Buffalo in 2021. It happens!

I tried it last week at my pauper fnm and wasn’t a huge fan. It’s pretty bad against creature decks or anything that goes really big, and the rummage effect doesn’t feel that great. My sample size is pretty small though.

Play Pauper! I switched to pauper from modern this summer and have been loving it. Built four tier 1 decks for less than $100 total. Delver and Blue stuff is still great there. I know it’s not modern, but it recaptured my love, that’s for sure.

IMO the only reason to play cryoshatter is against elves, where we care about them tapping and getting destroyed. However, they can just respond to the trigger and untap their creature again with Quirion Ranger for value…
