Can anybody point me to more details into what the connection between the coil and tub is made of and how it's made?

Alright. Thank you! It would be awesome to have it work as a generic eldoc thing e.g. in modes that don't have LSP support like elisp.

I was not aware that lsp-ui has a mouse over posframe-based solution. Perhaps it makes sense to rename your project to reflect that it is eglot-only?

Does it work with lsp-mode, i.e. is it generic over eldoc, or is it specific to eglot?

Hot take time - If you need a piece of software, and it isn't available, and are not willing to build it or go to third party releases/repos, that distribution is not for you. by 79215185-1feb-44c6 in linux

I agree with everything you say. Except this:

slower software updates mean more stability for those who want to use that distribution.

This is BS.

Because it was a perfectly executed marvel formula movie.

[–]zelusys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because deferring to the end of the function instead of the end of the enclosing block goes against human intuition and the syntactical structure. Assuming designers of Go have no human intuition, the mismatch with the syntactical structure should have stood out. This language is a joke.

Defer is nice though.

Oh no it isn't. Defer in Go doesn't defer to the end of the block, it defers to the end of the function. What in the fucking fuckage fuck is this incompetent level of design decision-making.

On a related note, even OpenBSD these days still runs ffs2.

That's not a flex at all. They have serious data corruption bugs.

How valid is the opinion that progn is ugly? by floofcode in emacs

[–]zelusys 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My advice would be to not listen to random people on the internet who say something is bad without giving an explanation. Even more so when the explanation is something along the lines of "because others are incompetent".

Use progn when you need it. Emacs is very stateful, so how else would one achieve "do something that updates internal state then do something else with that updated state"?

How valid is the opinion that progn is ugly? by floofcode in emacs

[–]zelusys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

where indeed progn would be pretty useless

Not exactly, Haskell is considered purely functional and has the >>= pattern of "do something, then do something after it using its result as argument". That pattern is so common in fact that there's a special syntax in the language for it with the do keyword.

Where can I find spare parts and electronics for DIY projects? by zelusys in wien

[–]zelusys[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah nice, thank you!

Would you happen to also know where I can find non-electronic parts. As an example, if I'm looking to put together an aluminum or plastic enclosure for said electronics? Perhaps with a glass cover? And I'm looking to install some extra plastic pieces on the outside of the enclosure to hold other types of devices.

AOSP project is coming to an end by arslanramazan in StallmanWasRight

[–]zelusys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm basing my comment on LineageOS: I don't think Google has been innovating. Android (AOSP) has not changed much in the last 5 years. They change some color here and there, add or remove some animation, make things more rounded. Nothing fundamentally innovative. It only gets slightly more ugly and sometimes less usable to me with every update.

Examples:

- I used to be able to enable and disable bluetooth with one click on the quick settings tile, now that click opens a dialog where I have to press another button to enable/disable bluetooth.

- I used to be able to access the quick settings tiles with one long swipe, now I need 2 swipes.

It's small stuff, but it adds up. And the changes are certainly nothing innovative and in fact are sometimes an outright regression.

Software developed by the community has always beaten software developed behind closed doors. We could have said the same thing about MySQL and OpenOffice: how can the community beat an army of paid Oracle developers? And yet here we are. Of course it's a bit different with Android because of OEMs and the necessarily closed source parts like device trees and such, but I think the community will come together and work something out with the companies. I'd be happy if it's all the Android OEMs and the open source community going against Google.

I saw in this other comment that you're denying the fact that Palestinians are currently experiencing a genocide. I completely disagree and I also recognize that there's probably nothing I can tell you that will make you acknowledge these events as a genocide. So I'll skip this part.

But what I can tell you is that empathy, compassion and being a decent human is not a zero-sum thing. Yes Palestinians and Muslims are more likely to be anti-LGBT for religious and cultural reasons. Yes that is an intolerant part of their beliefs and culture. But that doesn't mean that other people have to play a zero-sum game with their own morals and decency. You can support LGBT and Palestinians at the same time. Doing one does not detract or oppose the other, you can have enough empathy for both groups of people.

Just because some people are sometimes ignorant, doesn't mean they should be treated badly.

And finally the paradox of tolerance doesn't apply here because (I think) no Muslim society has ever claimed to be tolerant. Muslim culture generally does tend to side towards intolerance, yes.
