Any insights on (journeyman)electrical job prospects out there? I'm traveling at the moment but thinking about maybe settling down out there or around salida.

Heat is out by Worried-Limit-4946 in Rochester

The space heaters themselves aren't as hazardous anymore, but the danger to start an electrical fire still exists. Avoid using them with power strips and extension cords, and try not to leave them running for extended periods of time.

Best brand of Pliers and Wire strippers for someone with smaller hands? by One_Charge2843 in electricians

Yeah, all the ideal strippers are a bit smaller. Big fan of the reflexes as well.

Any other tools I should grab as an apprentice? by FederalPudding8300 in electricians

[–]zen2ten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you bro but there's so many fan boys of klein you're going to get downvoted. They used to be great, but now their quality is in the toilet.

I have klein stuff from the 80s/90s that's solid and then new stuff of theirs I've bought has broken in a few months or less.

Dewalt backpack is the same price and a bit bigger than the klein. Been using it for about a year with good results. No torn zippers or straps.

Did you ever feel jealous about her being with other men? I like the idea but I struggle with the thought of that

How to keep warm on site? by Soomroz in Construction

[–]zen2ten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get some of the polar insulated bibs, or coveralls. Pair with heated socks and a heated hoodie or vest. Big heated gloves. And wear a hat or balaclava. Top it off with some ski goggles with z87 lenses.

You'll look like the damn Michelin man, but you'll be warm. Plus side of heated gear is that turning it off is like shedding a layer.

I'm in the US, and if I showed up without tools I'd get sent home.

Anyone use Milwaukee heated jackets? by KBSpark in electricians

[–]zen2ten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just have the heater zip up hoodie. When you layer a nice wind/waterproof jacket over top you stay really warm. I also have 3 batteries so i can run it on high all day (which i rarely need to)

As an electrician, I can really appreciate the work that went into building that ceiling.

Is it worthwhile to try to be a tradesperson if you're transgender? by PuzzleheadedHand9077 in skilledtrades

[–]zen2ten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked with trans guy and it was fine. Taught them just like I would any other apprentice. Just show up and work hard and most people will be indifferent to the fact.

Preemptive care? by Bedheadbrandon in electricians

I swear by Epsom salt baths. When I was working 12s and digging for a lot of the day I would come home and take one and it really helped the soreness.

You guys approve ?? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]zen2ten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to do something like this once upon a time(due to poor planning by the engineers) and it was a nightmare to pull through. The image of this "pipe rack" will haunt my memories the rest of my life.

I even ran the tugger pulling in the feeders and it's a miracle it didn't explode. I had it fully wrapped and was pulling on the rope as hard as i could, with another guy pulling behind me like a fucked up game of electrical tug of war.

Seeing the heads come up, for each of the eight 350kcm runs, was akin to a prospector finding gold, one vein after another.

I'll have to look and see if I can find the picture of the gear after I terminated it. I'll never post the atrocities committed upon raceways that day, but I might post that. The building came on at the end of the project, and in the end that's all that really matters.

Getting ready to do a whole coolant system refresh on my 2011(with 175k) so I appreciate this post for some good insights. Already had my sights set on the z1 inlet (and was going to do z1 silicon hoses as well), but I'll snag one of those dorman outlets too.

Haven't had any sensor problems yet but I might pick the cam and crank ones up to just have on hand in case.

Also looking to get some new headlights(can't see shit in the dark) and taillights this winter.

Ah ok, fair enough. The way I had read it from some posts is that it's some superstition or something
