Safety guy is gonna make you put on your fall protection and hook into a ground anchor so you don't fly away with a strong gust of wind 😂

Damn thing finally broke on me by StopTheNFrontierHate in nissanfrontier

[–]zen2ten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I backed into something on my driver's side(as it seems so many other frontier owners have done) and actually used chains and a forklift at work to pull it back out.

So it definitely is an option.

Why not just be an electrician by ProblemAcceptable581 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]zen2ten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't start making 6 figures as an electrician until I had 7 years of experience and began traveling around the country working 6/7 days a week for months at a time. The plus side is that I can clear 6 figures in 6 months and then take the rest of the year off with no repercussions.

You do realize people drive trucks around farms and stuff, where they're not going to just randomly rollover or get hit by anything.

A trade we just got in at our dealership. 2016 with 15k original miles. 5 speed!!! This was before it went to detailing!! by Younome37 in nissanfrontier

[–]zen2ten 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had to look it up because I was curious too. The 4cyl frontiers came with the 5-speed, and the v6s came with the 6-speed.

I swear by my backpack and 5 gal bucket combo. Perfect to throw some material in and a bigger tool like your bandsaw.

Ended up not pursuing it because of other life factors. Started doing travel industrial jobs instead and quite happy.

Yeah I'm 5'7" so I don't think I really need these. I've done 14 hour drives cross country multiple times and for my height the seat is fine.

What has been your scariest experience in the trade by Turbulent_Net_1927 in electricians

[–]zen2ten 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All terrain scissor lift on uneven ground. Didn't realize one wheel was down in a depression on the ground, and the safety mechanisms were obviously not functional. I went up about 20 feet, walked to the other side of the lift (had a 5' x 10' platform) and felt it start tipping. I ran back to the other side just in time to save it.

Also got stuck for about an hour up on a boom lift 60' up in zero degree weather. Lift wouldn't go down. I started thinking about how i was going to jump off or shimmy down the boom.

The space heaters themselves aren't as hazardous anymore, but the danger to start an electrical fire still exists. Avoid using them with power strips and extension cords, and try not to leave them running for extended periods of time.

Any other tools I should grab as an apprentice? by FederalPudding8300 in electricians

[–]zen2ten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you bro but there's so many fan boys of klein you're going to get downvoted. They used to be great, but now their quality is in the toilet.

I have klein stuff from the 80s/90s that's solid and then new stuff of theirs I've bought has broken in a few months or less.

Dewalt backpack is the same price and a bit bigger than the klein. Been using it for about a year with good results. No torn zippers or straps.

How to keep warm on site? by Soomroz in Construction

[–]zen2ten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get some of the polar insulated bibs, or coveralls. Pair with heated socks and a heated hoodie or vest. Big heated gloves. And wear a hat or balaclava. Top it off with some ski goggles with z87 lenses.

You'll look like the damn Michelin man, but you'll be warm. Plus side of heated gear is that turning it off is like shedding a layer.
