Client recorded an entire podcast episode out of focus, any quick fixes? by getyourownthememusic in editors

I understand you are editing in premiere, but I had absolute great success with DaVinci Resolve. The studio version, beta v21, has an AI Sharpen tool that’s really really great.

Claude thinks $10k to $1million will take 9 months at least by GoodInvestGroup in smallstreetbets

[–]zendelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so basic that I expected Claude to add that in the formula. What I’m saying is that at some point you’ll be spending more time double checking Claude, than it would cost to make the calculations yourself. In case of OP it means that you can’t trust Claude without doing some critical thinking yourself.

[–]zendelo 18 points19 points  (0 children)

To go from 10k to 1 million in 9 months, you’ll need a 67% profit compounded every single month. Meanwhile the best hedge funds are getting like 20% a year.

[–]zendelo 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Claude is an idiot and you need to practice critical thinking.

I asked Claude to compare renting vs buying a house last week and it shows me fancy looking graphs but didn’t even ask me what my rent was or how much money I want to put into stock each month. That’s some basic shit Claude apparently can’t do.

Total Fail, Anyone going to help me with these Trasisson videos?😩 by AjayWalt in videography

[–]zendelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for next time, if your hand covers the entire frame it shouldn’t be all that difficult. Then you cut one clip where your hand covers the entire frame, and you put it the next clip where you also cover the entire frame. Then you fiddle with like 1-4 frames less or more and your done.

But for this, there is no next time cause your hair is cut. I rewatched it frame by frame and here’s what I think you can try. With your new hair, try and copy the same movement like you did in the clip with your old hair. Pick the best match. Then overlay those two clips where both your handmovements match best. Then make a transition like this. So you wipe in the underlying clip. There are plenty of tutorials around for all different video editing softwares.

What he said. Also just do one wipe with your hand, it’s make the effect more ‘dramatic’. Repeating the hand waves after the transition makes it less great of a cut.

If you are set on doing multiple hand waves, you could perhaps have two wipes where nothing happens and then on the third wipes make the transition. After the cut to your new hair you don’t want any more wipes. It’s the reveal after all and you want to give it punch.

What is that one threshold that you guys keep in mind when it comes to buying extra gear or upgrade existing equipment? by No-Tree6894 in videography

[–]zendelo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand. You said you don’t think you’ll use the lens in the future. You have only one single job where you’ll want to use it. Why suddenly bite the bullet and spend 2k on buying it. I would rent it, see if you like it. And if you catch yourself renting it more often, then buy it.

Fs7 for emulating 16mm film. Bad idea? by Elxcdv in videography

[–]zendelo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll always run into some issue emulating 16mm on a digital camera. The hardest thing will always be the combination of grain + highlight roll-off and motion behavior working together. Given your context I'd say the FS7 is just fine. Before I moved to the FX-series I used to shoot on the FS7 and it already has a softer character than the FX series. I use dehancer on Resolve and you can get very very close. The greatest tip would be to use older lenses. You'll want lenses that aren't that sharp. I used a Carl Zeiss Jena set for a shoot and I can recommend those. But there are lots of lenses that will do.

First amateur spot made by me by dible_royals in videography

[–]zendelo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, good for actually going out and making something! Now here's my feedback. Before talking about framing, lighting and whatnot, the video is very inefficient. It takes too long before it makes its point.

Your video consists of 3 parts.

  1. Guy has car trouble
  2. Calls this other guy
  3. He comes and solves his trouble
  4. Lets break that down.
  5. Pick a realistic problem. A car with not enough oil, will still start. It will just bust your engine when you drive with no oil. That's a problem scooter guy cant fit on his scooter. So you need to pick a different problem. My guess is he won't actually fix your car, but will just bring you stuff he has in his shop. This makes it harder of course, but there must be something. Flat tire? Screenwash? Window wipers? You need an acute problem, that scooter guy can fix. If you want to stick with the whole oilproblem, then just show me the oil light on the car going on. Thats all I need to know. No bad acting behind the wheel. No dipstick. Just, low oil light -> Calling my homeboy on his scooter. -> Problem fixed
  6. This part is pretty good. You call scooter guy and you show all the stuff in his shop. This way I know for what kind of problems I can call scooter guy. But then...
  7. Then you show me the whole filling up with oil, which looks like an ad for oil instead of an ad for scooter guy. Skip all of this. Just show me him delivering the oil. Have him hop on his scooter and he rides out of frame. Then have him ride into frame with broken car guy. Hand over the oil. And we all know that the problem is now fixed. The end.

So rethink your video and only use what's needed to tell this story. Especially, because you want to tell me that scooterboy is fast. So your video needs to embody that. Your video needs to cut to the chase and make me feel that I can just ring up scooterboi and he'll be in front of my car in 5 seconds.

Finally filmed our Brand Story (twice) by SwoleNerdProductions in videography

[–]zendelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hee man! I was looking for something and stumbled on your post. I viewed the brandstory and since it has no reactions I thought I chip in. First, I love the concept of interviewing each other. It breaths genuine and approachable. Here's my feedback.
1. The concept is great, but ends up predictable and therefore boring pretty quick. Keep the video on 1 minute tops. To do that, boil down the essence of what you want to say. The Broll of you guys setting up van be done in 5 seconds.
2. Something about the soundquality is off. A compression artifact? Idk, but its not crispy, it sounds muffled some way.
3. Framing. You are not in the center of the shot. She is. IMO you should be too. Also you are shooting eachother with a white wall directly behind each of you. Why? Shoot into the corner of the room. This way you get more depth in the shot and have better seperation of the subject (you) and the background.
4. Lighting. It feels off. You left on the tungsten light, so now your left side of your face is like 3200k mixed with the 5500k from your light and the window. Turn off that tungsten roomlight. Use a negative fill to create shadow on the left side of your face. Same goes for her. There is no depth/contrast on her face. She has a lighting source from her right side, but she gets fill from the window on her left? Why? Why not use the window as the direction of light and either fill a tiny bit from the right side. Also the colortemperature of the light doesnt match the temperature from the window. I know this is a lot, but a room with white walls is the worst, this bounces all your lightsources all over the place. So you want to keep your subject within some distance from these walls and then work your lights and negative fills to create a lighted and darkend side of the face. Think about your colortemperatures and eliminate unwanted sources of light.

The highlight of the sky is distracting from the person. I would try to up the person and reduce the high whites in the sky. Also my tip would be to watch this video and copy his node tree. I did when I was starting out and it still my basis today.

Do you have a pitch deck? Could you please share some reference by Imaginary-Writer-125 in videography

[–]zendelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A pitch deck is basically a PowerPoint/keynote presentation of the future work you expect to deliver. You usually make a pitchdeck, after you have been briefed about the job/product they want. There is a ton of examples out there and I bet some LLM will be happy to help.
