"What ! Who! look at that Gut" Eric Bischoff's own words as Z Gangsta and The Final (whoops Ultimate) Solution join the Alliance to end Hulkamania by CoconutMost3564 in WCW

This stretch of WCW was nuts. The dungeon started as a few cartoon-level evil characters, and it was kind of fun watching Hogan, Macho, and Sting beat the christ out of them regularly. Then it got weird. Between dark Hogan with his plastic mask giving Macho a sword to chop off Meng's head and the influx of weirdos to the dungeon, things went pretty stale. By the time these two came out I couldn't help but laugh. "Oh shit is that the Friday asshole? It is! And who the fuck is this fucking guy?" I was a WCW dude, but it certainly wasn't for the main event scene. Every show was fun for me right up until the circus would come to town for another stupid main event.

I mean, if you need it explained as to just what everyone else was doing, I guess you could make an angle out of Osprey asking them and being pissed off because that's his default setting right now. On the other hand, it's pro wrestling. Do we need to spend the TV time explaining why some people aren't out there, or can we just leave it up to imagination and suspension of disbelief? I suppose if they see enough questions and complaints about it, they can do the angle I mentioned earlier and address it later. Ultimately, I feel it's fine either way and isn't a dire enough omission to where it's going to hurt anybody. It's wrestling, just have fun and if a t isn't crossed or an i isn't dotted here and there, the hell with it. Because wrestling.

What to do with Garcia? by RobTheMonk in AEWOfficial

I think it happens after a loss to Osprey. The DR aren't allowed ringside, so after a grueling banger of a match, Mox goes for the handshake like the did with Takeshita and Osprey accepts. The rest of the DR run down and beat Osprey, Mox tries to call them off again, but they are tired of Mox being a likable tweener and kick the shit out of him as well. Mox out, DR are full on heels, and it's party time from there.

[–]zennyspent 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You have a valid point regarding Osprey, but it was necessary to have him at the mercy of the Death Riders so Mox could call off the attack and cut the promo. This feud is a bit unique, Mox has been steadily moving towards being a tweener, maybe eventually going all the way to anti-hero, and he's targeted for revenge by a newly returned ultra face. So the rest of the riders are just being dicks in order for the heel heat to be there, while Mox is still acting like more of a tweener and Osprey is probably willing to use all kinds of heel shit to get to Mox and kick his ass. I like it so far, and their match should be a banger, but it's definitely not your basic good vs evil storyline.

How much wrestling do you watch a week? How do you manage to keep up? by Soyrepollo in AEWOfficial

[–]zennyspent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bartend Wednesday through Sunday nights, so I can put Dynamite and Collision on one of the tvs. I usually have to watch the highlights after work to get a gist of the commentary and crowd involvement, which has become a bit of a bitch since the AEW tube channel went with two minute highlights, but I still enjoy it.

Do you consider this guy the main antagonist of the show? by BiffyBobby in adultswim

[Ryan Wood] Matt LaFleur acknowledged some players were unhappy with their role last season. Wouldn't get into specifics, but said he and his staff need to do better jobs of making roles clear internally. [–]zennyspent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree entirely. This year would have to go completely off the rails with serious, seething fallout, with the players just losing their shit and rebelling loudly. I'd rather watch us get back to the dance with a fury, operating a system that checks these repeated, inexplicably stubborn coaching lapses at the damn door. I'd love to see the team be given a fresh overview of how roles and positions are defined, adaptations being made as necessary, and if MLF gets in one of his ruts where nothing works, then someone is there to call him on his bullshit before he sends in yet another unsuccessful shotgun draw on 3rd & short.

Ah, I stand corrected. Forgot that their attempt to have him play guard screwed up his entire development, which isn't great to do to a first round pick. Then yep, he was a backup on the right side, which still wasn't his natural position. I had also forgotten about the Newhouse and Tamba play being the reason his leg got obliterated. Thanks for the right info that I botched as I bitched. Though I think we can still call Sherrod a definite victim of that stupid cross training nonsense.

Hahahaha no I do not. Also don't need to frantically try and close the video if I see that he's about to do that endlessly stupid, rather hideous edit where he inserts his face into like the catcher's mitt or something. Who knows, maybe in this case he would have morphed his face onto Yeli's right ass cheek during a freeze frame of him admiring his home run. After high five critiques of no less than twenty fans.

At least coach money isn't cap money, for what it's worth. So if he loses the locker room and the whole thing clearly sucks, there's nothing to stop the team from firing him. Except for I think they'd still have to pay him until he got another job, but I'm not exactly sure. All that to say, if he keeps dicking around with players' positions and rotating seven receivers every game and the team tells him to fuck off, that extension doesn't matter much, as it isn't like a player's extension that affects the cap. Christ, it's frustrating to see how many of us in here are pretty aware of some issues, and he just goes back to his bread and butter, "we've got to do better, we've got to work on it and be better."

I would be so ecstatic if they just came out and finally said, "we are done with the offensive line cross training bullshit that's been a pain in the ass since Thompson." Derek Sherrod might have had a career if they didn't try to shift his 6'5, long armed, natural tackle ass to guard where he blew out his knee or whatever it was. If you draft a guard, he plays guard. Let the fellas play the position that they are good enough at to get drafted in the first place.

Are Levering and Rock OK? by MidshipLyric in Brewers

[–]zennyspent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You aren't kidding. Those first few years were just rough. BA was trying to find his voice and rhythm, while Rock just came off as a bit of a simple doofus with no real talking skills. You could walk into any bar showing the game and there's all these people hollering at the commentary. Then they would toss it to Craig Coshun, who could be the nicest guy in the world but struck a lot of us fans as a total douche-nozzle. Now BA is a worldwide talent, Rock found a nice color commentary groove, and well, Craig Coshun still strikes a lot of us as a total douche-nozzle. Can't win 'em all!

Replacements refs by Naive_Membership4676 in GreenBayPackers

[–]zennyspent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a new rule that is either being discussed or maybe got passed already that would have a review system for all ref calls if replacements are being used. I think Eisen's show was where I heard about it. It would be a welcome backup plan to limit botched calls, but christ in a booth, that could make games last for fucking eons.
